Hello, this is my first post here and i have searched for my answers and could not find anything so far,

So i have an MSI Dragon Edition GT70 released in 2012, and i've bought it in 2012, since then i did no upgrade, no nothing, not even cleaned it up. So what occured to me since i don't have that much money to buy a full new desktop computer, why not upgrade mine? To be able to play newer games, make my pc to be more modern ( it's been 5 years you know )

    These are my specs,
    Core i7- 3930Q @ 2.40 GHZ
    16.0 GB RAM
    nVidia GTX 675 MX
    And my motherboard is MS-1762

So i think specs are variable region to region and these are mine. Is my computer upgradable? Can i buy parts that being used in newer msi gaming laptops? I only want to upgrade cpu and gpu. Am i compatible with newer gear? Or not worth the hassle? Thanks in advance!

The most valuable you can upgrade you can do is the GPU but it's going to require modding on the heatsink. Please also refer to this post from Talon.

Upgrading GPU to a 980m would be a good upgrade and the most noticable.

Upgrading RAM will give you minimal gains and is not worth it IMO, as long as 16GB is enough.

Upgrading cpu is posible, but you are stuck with 3rd generation processors. It is not worth it IMO.
