I really wish hey upgrade he 17" gS line to IPS... Touch would be great but just a killer IPS Screen. Love the form factor...

The TDP of my 765m is the same as the 970 right?

Just hope to see a GT62? Or whatever they are going to call the 15 "mini version of the GT72. The smaller GT series desperately needs an update.

Looking at that GE62 and hoping for some build quality along with a decent price.

Lord knows my Vaio S15 wants a new owner, and frankly it's been pretty hard to depart from this magnesium chassis (with temps not going higher than 70s), IPS FHD panel with a fingerprint reader as bonus.

Nothing yet, I don't think that'd be something they'd show at CES though. If they decided to do so would probably just come out as a new model number in the GS70 lineup. Not a whole lot 17" 4k panels just yet so might be a bit longer before we possibly see it.

You'd think they could at least put an IPS/PLS panel in there though. For all intents and purposes, it's mostly a bigger GS60 (aside from a couple minor things) with a crappy screen.

Especially for the price, there's no reason to include a TN screen on it.

Boils down to the amount of space available in the chassis, the display connection, the displays that offer those specs, and finding one that meets all three. There's been plenty of speculation on it but finding a reliable supply of those panels that might work is tough in of itself.

Fair enough, but are 17" IPS/PLS panels that hard to find these days? I can understand issues with a 3K or 4K display, but just a standard 1080p screen?

Maybe if resellers had an option to upgrade to a better screen, that would make the GS70 look a lot more appealing. :)
