Anyone have this SSD in a GX660 or close to that?

I have an OCZ Vertex III in an msi683-DXR. Only thing to note is that you REALLY wanna make sure you update the firmware BEFORE installing, especially if you're using it as an O/S drive. Apparently there were some pretty common performance/stability issues early on with these drives. Latest firmware seems to have fixed most of them [as far as I've read]

It's noticeably faster than the X25-m in my desktop, and I've had 0 issues with it so far.

    Hope that helps ya.

Yeah, I think I will do that before I install it, thanks for the help!! :D

I decided to just go with this one because newegg had a great deal on it for $119.99, I couldn't pass it up plus the speeds looked decent with not many bad reviews.

No matter which SSD anyone chooses to install, speed and performance will far outshine any traditional platter primary boot hard drive.

I have 2 OCZ vertex 2(34nm) and 2 OCZ Vertex 3 MI SSDs.

I've never had an issue with any of the SSDs.

I prefer the premium SSDs that utilizes synchronous or toggle mode memory.

Shouldn't this have gone in the Recommendations For An SSD thread?

I have been reading some about this SSD how people have had issues with BSOD and temperature issues. Had read that the 2.15version and a temperature fix has fixed both issues. Are you running 2.15, any issues?

Firmware 2.15 fixed the BSOD issue a small number of owners were having.

The heat issues are in the monitoring software and not the drives.

There's a problem with SMART temperature monitoring of SSDs in many programs that use it for reporting.

Acronis Drive Monitor is one program that reports SSD temperaters at 100C.

PerfectDisk in their latest version also have a SMART monitor and that it disables temperature reporting for a SSD in the GUI.

SSDs have no moving parts, use less power and generate little or no heat.

Ok, when I receive this SSD in a couple days, I think I will plan on updating the firmware before installing it to a o/s.

    Thanks!

Since the GX660 has 2 hard drive bays it's very simple to update the firmware on the SSD from the drive you're using now.

Put the SSD in the secondary drive position that's empty now and boot your current drive.

The firmware can't be upgraded if the OCZ SSD is the boot drive in use.
