I know that it's almost impossible to play games while on battery, but it would be nice if you can, right. I know that many questions about the battery will arise, but let's not discuss this here. I've noticed that when I start a game, the GPU swiches to max 275MHz core, 550MHz shaders, 300MHz (600MHz DDR) Mem. I also noticed that these are the throttling freaquinces set in the BIOS of the card. So what crossed my mind is to set this freaquinces to my max frequiencies and voltage also, but unfortunatly the card stop working in 3D mode. Flashing BIOS back fixed everything. So there is only one thing more to try, to fix this in drivers, but since it's software related (and I'm not very familiar with software) I don't know how to do this. I did some research about that in google, but the only thing that comes out is how to change this under linux (the driver there is far more user friendly). Of cource it was in order to exted battery life with lowering the clocks, but since this is capable there the opposite thing must be also possible. So somebody knows something about that?

Nvidia Powermizer downclocks the GPU on battery, there should be guides somewehere of how to disable powermizer...

    @ Tinselworm
I'm aware of Powermizer. But all the results I have are for Linux. I can't find info how to disable it in Windows.

    Here you go:

    ******************************************************
Step 1 - Press the "window" key + R . This will lauch a command window. Type ((regedit)) then press OK.

Step 2 - Now navigate to this registry.

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{**a series of numbers that are different**}\0000\PerfLevelSrc

Step 3- What we need to do once you found PerfLevelSrc is edit it by double clickin and changing the value data from 3333 to 3322. Click ok.

Step 4- Find "PowerMizerEnable" which is probably 5 ways down from "PerfLevelSrc". When you find it double click on PowerMizerEnable and change the value data from 1 to 0.

Step 5 - Find PowermizerLevel and change the value to 1

Step 6- Find PowermizerLevelAC and change value to 1

Close and restart comp. You will now notice no more downclocking.
    ******************************************************
On Vista change the registry key PerfLevelSrc from x'3333' to x'3322' with regedit. This forces the GPU to run at max when plugged in,

but allows powermizer to still work with batteries.

x'2222' will keep GPU at max on batteries or mains.

    Thanks, zaedion,
As I understand if I set this values I will not have the different frequiencies that the card switching between (different profiles - 2D, 3D low power, 3D performance and Extreeme)? It will work only on it's highest speeds - Exteeme? Because I thought it's possible to enable the other two profiles on battery - 3D performance and Extreeme. Because the clocks that I stated are equal to 3D low power profile.

Hmm... I'm not exactly sure about the profiles, but yeah, turning off powermizer will disable under-clocking while on battery. I was testing this for the GT627 bluray playback on battery, and saw a big improvement but it was still not enough for a completely smooth playback. Forgot to check the games though, as they are playable in lower resolution or less eye candy.
