    Hi All,
Has anyone had issues with the windows 10 Netflix app not playing sound through the headphones? I get sound out of the speakers just fine. I also get sound from Netflix on my browser with the headphones just fine. I want to use the download and watch later feature in the windows 10 app for a flight, but no audio via the headphone jack inside of the app. Really strange.

    Anyone else experience this?

    Thanks in advance!

It could be a couple of things. Check to see if the mute is enabled in Sound Panel, Realtek (or?), and application / Netflix. Check sound panel for exclusive access, disable it if enabled - Advanced Tab in dialog. Realtek might not have your headphone jack enabled - you should see a popup showing switching if notifications are enabled, otherwise dig through the Realtek HD interface and find the headphone jack configuration and make sure that plug is enabled.

Thanks, I tried a couple other headsets out. Paired a Bluetooth set and that had audio. Then I tried my plug in headset I use for my phone, and that worked. Tried the original headset again and that is working now. All the items were not muted or anything (I had checked those settings and such earlier). It seems to be working now though, but I'm not sure what has changed other than trying other headsets.

Hmmm, it appears that this issue exists if I am not plugged into power. Just confirmed the issue is back when using a plugged in headset and on battery. I tried using high performance, balanced, and power saver battery options, and it appears as if the audio is turned off only for the application. Outside of the Netflix app I can get audio through the headset just fine. I went back to my Bluetooth headset while on battery and Bluetooth works just fine. It's almost like the Netflix app is trying to push too high of quality of audio over the headphone jack and the jack doesn't like it on battery?

Hmm, do you have 1 headphone jack or 2? Some laptops have a high quality DAC port and a normal headphone port, maybe there are controls for either one that vary based on battery or AC - it might be in the Power Plan Advanced settings too.

Try using the mute key on the keyboard, tap it, then tap the volume up key a couple of times, and then hit the mute key again to see if it's just as simple as mute got enabled.

I've had this happen to me before, finding that the mute was enabled somehow inadvertently.

First time I've heard of this one, please let us know when you figure it out :)

If you have the Nahimic audio driver installed, close it from the system tray and see if your audio works normally.

I think that laptop has Optimus, which means the GPU switches between dGPU and iGPU depending on the application, and Netflix may use the dGPU on AC and iGPU on battery for decoding video/audio instead of dGPU, and I think this could be it as well the switching over to iGPU on battery might have different settings saved than on dGPU, check the Silverlight audio settings or whatever Netflix is using now - right click on video area in the browser to get access to audio settings.

There may need to be a resetting of Silverlight installation / settings if you can't get it adjusted, chat with Netflix support for help with the procedure - in chat they can give you a URL to the instructions - it's been a while since I needed to do this - for a different reason, video problems. There may be a fix for this specific audio issue as well at Netflix.

Thanks, I confirmed even being plugged in without first using a Bluetooth headset, the plugged in headset will have no audio in the windows 10 Netflix app. If I use the Bluetooth to start playing a show, then switch to the plugged in headset it'll work for the remainder of the show. The next episode will lose sound and then I can rinse and repeat with the Bluetooth. I'm going to try to set the Netflix app to use discrete graphics next and see if that helps.

There's only one headphone jack on these laptops and I'm thinking there may be a software issue with the Netflix app and the way it's trying to produce the audio via the headphone jack.

Update: via the nvidia control panel I can't seem to find an application for the Netflix windows 10 app to be able to switch it over to discrete graphics

Just tried closing all of the nahemic processes and started Netflix. No audio from the headphone jack. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Also uninstalled the audio and nahemic drivers and put the latest versions on. Still no headphone audio in Windows 10 Netflix app.

Did you check the audio switcher by clicking the volume icon in the taskbar and changing the audio device by clicking the name of the audio device above the volume slider?

Yeah, I verified that. Tried muting, unmuting, setting different devices as default, etc.

Hi, just curious: Were you able to resolve that issue? Because I have the exact same behaviour with my GS63VR and Netflix here, too.

Found a simple solution for my Gs63 7rd stealth, go playback devices, right click on your headphones, go properties, supported formats and uncheck the encoded formats. Netflix probably doesn't work with them and thats the problem.
