Any idea if there will be a Next Generation MSI that comes with an ExpressCard Slot ???

Seems like almost every vendor is doing away with the ExpressCard Slot these days ???

ExpressCard is getting rare these days.. It's being replaced by new technologies like Intel's thunderbolt or USB 3.0
I don't think you will find an ExpressCard slot on newer MSI models..
They went away with it since the GT680.

Yes. Consider this: thunderbolt reaches 10gbps per channel on it's copper version and 20gbps when optical fiber is used. These are theoretical speeds. I don't know actual speeds. ExpressCard on the other hand reaches 5gbps on its most sofisticated form (expresscard 2.0 in USB 3.0 mode).
Also thunderbolt provides power over it's cable so more devices can be connected to it (up to 6). It combines PCI express and DisplayPort into one.
Integrating it it's up to MSI ;)

Expresscard as a standard has been retired. There is a slot in the original new generation MSI chasis (GX660) but it got removed from the 2nd gen machines and onwards as it had been abandoned by the people who first developed it.

The express card never became popular enough. It has been a couple of years since most brands, if not all, stopped using it. I still remember the GX660 having it, and yeah, that's the last time I saw one.

The latest Clevo X79 machine has it and some workstation stuff for legacy reasons.

The P570WM also has an ExpressCard54 slot, but it is all but a superseded technology.

I miss having a slot on my new 1762 barebones. I have a Compact Flash card reader that plugs into one since all built in card readers on laptops these days ignore CF media for some reason. My Canon camera uses CF so it it's handy when I am on holiday to be able to clear the card off more quickly than via usb 2.

CF is not as practical for random media, though it is still being used in the PLC industry with some controllers.

Yes USB 9in1 readers come pretty cheap these days. Bought one myself 3 days ago on ebay for 15 euros shipped. It even acts as a 4 port USB hub (using USB3's capability of more power). I have connected to it my hdd and my mouse working in USB 2.0 speeds :)
