New msi ge72vr normal temps?

Hello. I bought an msi ge72vr with a i7 7700hq and a GeForce 1060.
While I was playing both the CPU and GPU are between 70° and 80° depending on the game and if I have activated the cooler boost. The maximum peak I saw in the CPU was 83 while playing dark souls 3 in max settings.
Do you guys think those temps are normal? I think I'll get a cooler base. Someday I'll do a repaste but for now I don't want to break the warranty seal.
Also I saw that the coolers work at 6000rpm. Is this speed dangerous for the coolers life?

Coming from an MSI GT72, a little bit better in cooling, with an 980m gtx and an 4710hq at 4ghz. Probably the same power consuption +-

It seems a little bit high but seems possible. My temps where between 70-80 for the cpu with high fans (not turbo) and 75 max on the gpu at full load

 

The temperature is fine with stock thermal compound. GE series tend to run at higher temperature if GPU is under max load, but the upper threshold is 90C and it will not go higher than that.

Have you updated your BIOS ? MSI did a few things with regard to cooling/fan profiles recently (ie last month).

I have the GE62VR- 7RF, same as you but 15.6". Yes your temps are pretty normal. I have undervolted the CPU using intel XTU, which also helps lower temps a bit. I also have a cooling stand that I got for my previous laptop which helps even more.

I would not worry about either the fans or the warranty sticker (mine is long gone and I have had the notebook just over a month ) You can go in the case as long as you are careful without voiding warranty (I checked - removing the sticker doesn't void warranty as log as you don't break anything). If the fan/cooler dies then it is easy to replace. MSI will have tested them to run at that sort of RPM.

I too intend doing a repaste. It is on my list of things to do at some point as stock paste jobs can be meh to say the least, and my previous laptop was hot to touch before I finally took the plunge and redid the paste after 2 years. Wont be leaving it that long this time

NB:- uninstall things that you don't need or use. Extra CPU cycles = heat. Also is a good idea to optimise a bit. Bloat is never good.

 

How high are your ambient temps? Those influence a LOT the normal working temperatures. Anything below 85 celsius is more than fine, and you shouldn't worry. When components get hotter, they tend to throttle, and you will notice it.

 

Hi, thanks for your answers, so I just undervolted the CPU, and now the temps are at maximum 74 in the CPU, but with an average of 70-72.
If I'm using cooler booster 4 the temps are between 68-71, but I wonder if cooler booster 4 can damage the coolers with the time since they are working at maximum performance.

I wonder if I sould buy a laptop cooler base, I know my temps are normal but I would like to keep them as low as I can to maximize my laptops life.

Your temperature is fine, you do not need to buy the laptop cooler unless you really want it.

 

As Kevin says, you don't need a laptop cooler. I bought one because my previous machine was in dire straits lol. If you would like one that's up to you. The cooler fans are neither expensive or difficult to replace, again if one goes, then no big deal. Every little helps I guess, so at minimal cost I guess you could buy some decent thermal paste and clean/redo it.
