    Hey guys!

First of all I've been lurking on this website for a while but never took the time to join.

In fact, my choice to go with MSI is largely based on a lot of things I've read on this website.

Everything was fine and dandy until I ran my windows updates... Laptop came back on, I put in my password and now its frozen at the screen that just says Windows 7 Home Premium... Looks like I'm going to have to shut it down manually... which sort of sucks.

My main question however was this: Should I simply update every Driver/Bios etc from the MSI website individually? Is it safe to use MSI Live Update 5 (Latest Revision) or should I use the CD labeled "drivers" that came with the laptop.

    Thanks guys!

    -Matt

The 'best' option is probably to just re-install windows from scratch. A lot of people do that when they first get any new machine, because it eliminates a lot of bloatware and factory settings.

That being said, when I got my GT780DX in December, I:
    - Kept factory installation of Windows 7.
    - Ran Windows Update
    - Went to MSI site and hand-picked certain installations (S-bar, caps lock indicator, etc)
    - Grabbed new video drivers from a link in the owner's lounge.

The machine has been running smoothly since then and has had no issues running SWTOR for anywhere between 2 and 10 hours at a time.

I may still reinstall at some point, but I'll wait until I buy an SSD and want to make it my primary drive.

Side note: depending on the reseller you used, you may already have the latest version of the BIOS. I got mine at gentechpc.com and it already had the latest version on it, so there was no need to update it.

    Insane fast reply!! Lol!

I was honestly thinking of re-installing windows from scratch but I am also waiting to get an SSD before doing so (Probably after my tax returns :p).

Is MSI Live Update 5 still a piece of junk? I guess I'll install my drivers and stuff seperately!

Too bad it wasn't up and running, I would say go through add/remove programs, make a list of what is installed. When you do a fresh install, reinstall only the necessary drivers. When you go to msi website, the drivers are incomplete and I had a problem with the wifi drivers for stock installed wifi device and the blue ray player was no where to be found (I grabbed it from another model). I made a list and backed up the drivers to an external hard drive, the disk they gave me was incomplete....wasn't impressed with the driver disk.

I also seem to be having some issues with keystrokes.. seems like some of the keys I press are not registering.. I hope it's just me not being used to the keyboard... because I thought that problem had been fixed.
