    Hello everyone!
I've been browsing through Power Notebooks website and found very interesting thing for all of us. There is an option for upgrading from stock GTX570M to GTX580M now!
That's really nice option for 399$ . So, anybody who was thinking about laptop upgrade, can consider the one of the best bang for the buck. Looking at available upgrade as steelseries backlit keyboard in PowerPro R12:17 this laptop is looking as perfect machine for me. Pictures and benchmarks are coming soon. Hope Donald can provide us with some :D I will update this post with received information and pictures.
For all interested PowerPro R 11:36 page and PowerPro R 12:17 page.
    Have fun and good luck!

Yes. PowerPro 11:36 is based on MSI 16F2 barebone and PowerPro 12:17 is based on MSI 1761 barebone.

The PowerPro R 11:36 (barebones MS 16F2) will be the ONLY MSI 15.6" model in the US with the nVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M 256bit w/2.0GB GDDR5.

You will see it under different private labels, but the branded version, the MSI GT683DX, will not have the GTX 580M.

The PowerPro R 12:17 (barebones MS 1761) uses the same shell as the MSI GT780DX, but with a different skin, and is cheaper with the same configuration.

Someone got a hold of some GTX580Ms to slot in eh? NICE =)

I was talking to OCUK and they said that it would be about £2000 for the GT785 with GTX580M =/

$300 upgrade is actually the difference between buying the two cards outright so not bad going.

XoticPC has also started to offer it with their updated version of the same laptop. My question is why couldn't either Powernotebooks or XoticPC do it before? What exactly changed if it's the same chassis and motherboard? Not that I'm complaining, it's excellent news and it seem to be cheaper than P150HM with that card.

Just to clarify, steelseries backlit keyboard is not an external, but actually a keyboard replacement, right? Is it the same as on the GT780DXR laptops? Is that the mouse that also comes with the upgrade Amazon.com: SteelSeries Kinzu Optical Gaming Mouse (Black): Electronics? If I understood it right, that means there is another awesome backlit capable budget laptop available up until Clevo refresh.

Yes, the Steelseries keyboard option replaces the standard built in keyboard on the PowerPro R 12:17. It is the same keyboard that is on the MSI GT780DX laptops.

Yes, that is the Kinzu mouse that also comes with the Steelseries upgrade.

These are two new whitebook models released by msi; MS-16F2-019 & MS-1761-012. The GTX 580M is pre-installed from msi at the factory production level. Updating the previous models to a GTX580M would require a MSI heatsink that did not exist and a 580M VGA card. The system board is most likely a newer revision as they are usually updated at new model releases (Board part number remains the same but the revision number changes). The chassis design stays the same as previous models.

See the posts on the previous page, including my post #8.

This has already been posted, as has the information that MSI is not going to bring the GT685 into the US Market.

He would not bad mouth it because:

    1) The company would sell it if they could.
    2) The whitebook and retail occupy different price brackets.
    3) People buy them based on style choices.

    Get your facts straight.

Oh, duh, the price listed is for an 11:36, the smaller sibling notebook. I was quoting the barebones 780.............

Hmmmmm, in a MAJOR dilemna here. I really like the idea of an MSI 780 with the 17" display steelseries backlit keyboard(major selling point as Id prefer to have a backlit keyboard) and 580m (I am an Nvidia fan), but to get it with basic BD drive, 2670 i7,Advanced-N Intel wifi+ bluetooth card 6230, cheapest RAM and HD, and it will be within my reach to purchase next Tues. at $1873.....................BUT
a semi local authorized reseller of Clevo/Sager an hour's drive away from me is offering the PH8180 / 180HM barebones Clevo/Sager 18" laptop with 2670 i7 cpu, Dual Radeon 6970's in crossfire with 300w ps,integrated wifi/bluetooth card(no RAM, no HD,no Op system)and basic dvd rw drive for $1450 shipped to my door or $1425 if I pick up,........so adding my own RAM, HD and windows op system(and upgrading the integrated wireless card to a better Intel unit)id be about at the same price but with a 64 bit op system.

How do the 2 / crossfire 6970 Radeon's stack up against a 580m single GTX card for performance?

How much does it cost for a Clevo / Sager BD drive if I want to pick one up down the road as well? Can never find any pricing on accessories and replacement parts which is potentially making me cringe, lol.

In games that fully support sli/crossfire(or is it differing?)I bet the 6970's do perform well. But what about games like SC 2(My favorite)that dont support dual gpu card setups? I was given a copy of Crysis and Crysis 2 for Xmas, so Ill be playing those as well. My minimal requirements are 60fps at native resolution(1080p obviously) playback with all the settings maxed or very close to fully maxed out.

Im basically quoting the best bang for the buck in terms of graphical performance for games n multimedia and these 2 are at the top of my list. I just want a top flight performing machine thats 17" or larger, bd drive, best gpu setup possible, good wifi performance(in in line of sight from my wireless router so i figured the Advanced n 6230 w/ bluetooth is fine), and a decent built in mic and video cam and decent built in speakers for video chat, the ram and HD for now can be generic(8gigs 1333 and a generic 500gig hd)and Windows home 64 bit. A backlit keyboard is preferred but not a 100% dealbreaker since I really do like the Sager / Clevo 18" bigboy. Its all got to fit under $1800 regardless, as thats the max I can spend.

    Hi guys,

I've been researching configurations and models for a brand new gaming notebook for about a month now and was going to decide on the P150HM when I came across the PowerPro R 11:36.

In short, my experience with Donald from PowerNotebooks.com has been nothing short of spectacular and he's been patient with all my queries from payment options (International purchase) to setup, offers and questions regarding the SSD. He even threw in a 50$ NBR discount and free dead pixel warranty!

This is the configuration I've settled on:
    PowerPro R 11:36 Matte Gaming Laptops - $2,130.00 (After $50 Notebookreview discount)

    nVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M 256bit w/2.0GB GDDR5
    Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM (2.2~3.1GHz, 45W) w/6M L3 Cache - 4 Cores - 8 Threads
FREE IC Diamond to CPU + GPU w/CPU Upgrade ONLY
    8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3/1333 Dual Channel Memory

I hope so Meaker! I read about the mainboard bottlenecking the 580m by design on another thread and got a little worried. Was assured that it didn't when I made enquiries.

Certainly no worries at stock. It's only when you start overvolting and overclocking, but if you are that much into it then there are things you can do to get round it.

Any real reason or speculation as to why MSI is not bringing the GT685 to such a large market as the U.S? :(

Which markets would it be released in? If they'll release it in Europe for instance, then why only there and not the U.S?

Notebook is in production and should ship soonish. I'm so excited. Been on these forums a lot reading unboxing reviews and stuff. Have a new question though! I play Shogun 2 a lot and was wondering if the GTX 580m would be able to handle it maxed out on stock. Read somewhere that Battlefield 3 won't be playable with max settings on stock as well. Also been reading about a little overclocking and am not averse to it though it would be a new experience.

You can look for the difference between the GTX560 and GTX560ti desktop cards (which share the same chip) to get a general impression of the difference between performance of a stock and overclocked 580M.

I am looking for a laptop with the same setup as with my main portable system for my younger brother. He play games a lot, and is a fast typist too. Is the (upgrade) Built-In SteelSeries keyboard good to type on?

I've got my MS-1761 barebone with steelseries keyboard. I am not a fast typist. But I didn't have any typos during this post. Also my experience is pretty much the same with this.

A few people report that keys will not register sometimes, but that issue is very random and seems to have been fixed.

Most people love the Steelseries keyboard :)
