    Grats on the purchase chris!

Well normally i'd get rid of all the bloatware (if any) and try as best i can to optimise my machine for performance :D

Then push it into some games ^^

    haha, sounds smart.
I hope the bloatware is minimal, but also being realistic.
Do i need to reformat or anything?
    I am utterly confused.

    *thanks for the quick reply

Its unlikely, i think your system will be good to go from the box, run a defrag though, i class it as a must :D

And run CCleaner to declog applications floating around (or temporary files) and run the registry cleaner because there are often alot of unused registries floating around :)

MSI Machines come with very little bloatware in my opinion. When I got my GT627 all I did to start things off was remove the trial NortonAV I think it had on there.
    Then I installed another AV.
After that all you need to do is install the basic programs you want to use, like word. Put on a good codec like CCCP so you can watch any movies you want.

Then as mentioned above put some games on and play. Not really much else needs to be done. Its a great machine so enjoy.

(You could update the video drivers to new official ones or modded ones, but that won't change too many things.)

    Hope that helps.

    so i have:

    1. uninstall bloatware
    2. defrag
    3. clean the registry?
    4. get the CCCP Video code
    5. check for possible vidoe driver
    6. Anti Virus

Anti Virus like I mentioned is usually a good idea.
Some good free ones are AVG and Avira.

But other than that you should pretty much be well on your way.

    And NP happy to help.

AVAST is your best bet for anti virus software. Its free, uses little resources, AV-Comparatives rated it Advanced+; their highest level, and hasn't missed a virus on Virus Bulletin test since 2004.

First thing to do: wipe machine and install Windows 7 64 bit RC1. :p

At least, that's what I did -- it's faster because it's 64 bit (not to mention you can utilize all of your RAM) and smoother and easier to use because it's Windows 7. Since you just bought yours you get a free upgrade coupon for Windows 7 coming out in October -- just register at msimobile.com -- so no worries about not having an os when RC1 expires.

EDIT: Oh and, I definitely recommend Avast as an antivirus -- it's free, effective, and not too annoying.

You'll need to download the windows 7 RC1 disc image from microsoft's site (google it), burn the image to a DVD, restart your computer and boot from the DVD, and then follow the instructions.

Keep in mind you'll have to do a complete reinstall again when you get your upgrade disc because RC1 expires next year.

Hmmm, should i chose to go that route, i can install Windows 7 64 bit?
A complete install with the upgrade disc would equate wiping everything right>?

Yes you will be able to install Windows 7 64 bit with the upgrade disc, and yes you will have to wipe everything and do a clean install to do that. If you kept Vista Home Premium you could upgrade to Windows 7 32 bit without wiping everything, but that's 32 bit, which is slower and doesn't utilize all your RAM.

If you want you can do a dual boot and put the windows 7 os on your d: drive.
