Any news on this laptop coming out ??? I am guessing it would have the same 9600M GT as the GX400, but it would be nice if they can stuff a 9700M GT or an ATI HD4850 in there !!!! God Bless :)

you know i think this notebook is at CES check CES coverage you will probably find more info :D maybe a ATI 4670 as the MSI EX is gonna have one already. :D That would be a win in itself

There is very little chance of a 4850 in it, as it's supposed to be as powerful as the 9800M GTX. 9700M GT has also little chance as its TDP is almost double the 9600M GT (45W vs 23W).

Yeah, as 14" laptops go, the 9650M GT is probably the highest you want to go. Anything more and you've got yourself a nice lap heater.

I really hope MSI will release the 400 or 420 in the U.S. and give ASUS some competition. Their 14" 9650M GT equipped laptops have so far been unanswered in their market segment.

yeah and they will be unaswered for quite a long time not only is it the most powerful gpu in 14" form factor but also it is amazingly priced only MSI would be able to compete price wise :D

Is not the 4670 about the same as the current 9600MGT or 9650M GT ??

If the link the Compal guys posted is correct about the new 15" Compal barebone, the 4670 performs just a hair better than the 9700M GT.

Considering the HD 3670 is around the same as the 9600M GT (both with same memory type), I'd assume the HD 4670 would be a good boost above the 9650M GT at the least, and as stated above, around the 9700M GT.

Looking at that post in the Compal forum and also looking at NoteBookCheck, it looks like the ATI HD4670 is between the ATI HD3850 and the Nvidia 9700M GT. If the MSI GX420 were to come with this GPU they would probably sell a lot of this laptop. I love the 14.1 inch size as it is pretty light yet large enough for serious casual gaming. God Bless :)

It would either make the laptop heavy and thick due to the cooling system needed or not feasible due to high TDP.

I don't think the 4670 will consume much heat or produce much heat, since ASUS has just announced that it will be available in one of their upcoming 14" models. The desktop 4670, with all of its 750 MHz core clock speed and 1GHz memory speed, is rated at 59 watts. I'm certain the clock speeds will be turned down a bit to accommodate a smaller notebook chassis (My guess is 500-550 MHz core, 700-800MHz memory), and I really can't see it being more than 25 watts TDP.

Imagine a notebook video card that runs slightly quicker than a 9700M GT, but only requiring half the power to do so.

I am in the USA and from my understanding it is not offered here. I have searched on the internet for hours and have called several places in Europe, Asia, etc. and none of them ship to the USA or even returned any of my calls or emails :( There was someone here that purchased one from a Chinese seller and when I called him, I copuld tell immediatley that he could not understand me and there was no way I could understand him, so he ended up hanging up on me. So I am still looking, hopefully I can get a hold and purchase the GX420 !!! Thanks for asking. God Bless :)

That would be awesome. I'm waiting for the TDP to be officially released. Too bad Asus is known for their heavier laptops and short battery life :(
