Shown to me courtesy of Pendragon, Eurocom appears to have a new GT72 barebones meant for workstation type jobs.

What are you thoughts on this? I was hoping to see some socketed parts.

That's awesome. I like this form factor better than the 15 inch MSI barebones: ... mostly because
1. I prefer the larger 17 inch display and the wider 17 inch chassis, both when sitting on my lap or in front of me).
2. I like that the USB ports are distributed to both sides of the chassis: there are 2 USB ports on the right and 4 on the left, whereas the 15 inch barebones only has 3 on the right.
3. It doesn't bother me that it is single 1 GPU capable (not SLI).
4. I don't care for the rear power input. I prefer the power input be on the side, like the Alienwares, so I can see if and when it slips out to reconnect it. (YM W V).
5. FCBGA1440, so BGA 45W, PUKE! I'm not wild on the Xeon chip.

Really, point #4 is the only thing that consistently bothers me about the Clevos and MSI kits. I really am liking the large display screen on this new barebones. Optical drive and BGA ruin it for me, tho. YMWV. Can this be a glimpse that the Eurocom Tornado F7 is eminent?? -
Eurocom also mentioned something about a GT83 socketed barebones at some point. That sounds like it could give the P870 more of a run for its money.
@EurocomTechspert Any comments lol? -
@Galm
I haven't had issues with the MSI power connector, yet. No bad experience with rear connectors on my various Thinkpads either (T43, T61p, R61e, X61s, X220). But I have had issues with other brands where the connector was in the back (Dell Precisions) and sometimes it did slide out. So the problem isn't universal. I've seen others mention and praise AW for the side power port, so I though I would mention it.
I'm glad it isn't a universal problem. So perhaps I am worried over nothing? -

I don't have the problem. I was just making a general observation. The way people described the AW connector, it made it sound like a side connector was superior for a computer that generally needs to be certain (and the user has positive visual confirmation of that fact) that it has reliable access to full AC power so as to not throttle at inopportune times.
So perhaps the side connector addresses a problem that does not exist? Based on your feedback, it sounds like I'm worried over nothing. Thank you. -

This isn't a GT72, this is a WT72.
