    USE AT YOUR OWN RISK

    This vbios was Extracted from a Medion Akoya X7811 (french edition) which is a notebook based on the same chassis as the 1727 whitebook, and the GX740, which is why I'm posting this here.

    This vbios is the most recent that you will find at the moment for the HD5870 mobility, and it works flawlessly with all the catalyst center options (powerplay, overdrive, etc.)

    Many people have tested it in germany on their X7811 since @tilla told them about it. They had no issue so far and were able to undervolt their GPU and thus gain quite a few degrees.

    My current voltage settings are 0.8V on idle and 0.95V on load. I still have to understand why on sector while idle, I'm still getting 0.9V instead of 0.8V, but I think reinstalling ccc will figure this out.

    Update : Now that it works, here's what I get :

    Idle / Sector : 405/1000 @ 0.8V
    Load / Sector : 700/1000 @ 0.95V (see furmak stability test on picture below)
    Youtube video 1080p / Sector : 500/1000 @ 0.8V
    idle / battery (power saving mode) : 300/400 @ 0.8V
    Idle / Battery (high performance mode) this is where it gets weird : 405/1000 @ 0.8V

    I will undervolt and downclock my idle settings further since I'm still idling at around 58°

    So anyways. Here's a tutorial on how to edit an ATI bios, and then how to flash it on your machine :
    techPowerUp! :: Tutorial on how to use RBE (Radeon BIOS Editor)
    This is a tutorial that will explain how to overclock, but you can undervolt just the same way.

    Here's the bios info :
    Imageshack - biosinfo.jpg

    Here's the default settings :
    Imageshack - defaultvd.jpg

    And my current settings :
    Imageshack - currentsettings

    4minute Furmark stability test @ 0.95V :
    Imageshack - furmark82.jpg

    1minute Furmark bench O/C to 740/1000 @ 0.95V with CCC overdrive :
    Imageshack - 7401000bench.jpg

    Pm me if you want to have this bios, I'll give you the link for it.

    If I have missed something or if you would like to have more info on this, more tests or anything, I will try my best to fix my OP :)

    Update : After uninstalling ccc and cleaning registry with ccleaner + reboot, everything is working fine. 405/1000 @ 0.8 on idle, switches to 700/1000 @ 0.95 on load (yes, without powerplay, don't ask me how !!!) and switches to 300/400 @ 0.8 on battery, still with no powerplay. I will install catalyst again and see what happens then :)

    Black screen, possibly bricked? Only a blind flash may work, however does the machine even boot properly at all?

    Not getting much feedback but heh, maybe you guys don't need it after all.
    I should update with my new current settings when I get some time, currently running O/C to 740/1100 stable, I'm pretty happy with that :)

    OK, i'm the mentioned german X7811 owner, who tried out this new vBIOS from Danteleet with fully working powerplay.
    With the old stock (voltage modded) we had to switch the clocks manually.

    At first, powerplay works flawlessly and the clocks (8 different clocksettings!) are switching without flickering or any other issues.
    It's maybe the same source of the new GX640 vbios (Br35701.030).
    Remember the biosdate! (04/23 to 06/04)

    I'm gotten to the following settings:
    [IMG]

    Info to clocks:
    00: 700/ 1000 3D (game)
    01: 100/ 150 2D (low)
    02: 500/ 1000 2D (high load, e.g. resize window)
    03: 300/ 400 UVD (Avivo hardware accel., e.g. youtube)
    04: max. batt. idle
    05: max. batt. load ???
    06: max. batt. 3D ???
    07: ?

    I've done some tests, posted it at nbj, but want to tell it here also.
    At the moment i haven't modded anything but the voltage and some clockrates. No nb cooler here.
    A backcover mod would be my next task. ;)

    100/ 150 @0,7V 46°C idle (flat table) -> fan lowest step!
    100/ 150 @0,7V 45°C idle (slightly jacked up) -> fan lowest step!
    100/ 150 @0,8V 48°C Idle (flat table, short test at 24°C ambient)

    300/ 400 @0,75V (UVD) 50°C youtube 1080p fullscreen (Call of Duty 5 WaW gameplay 9:05)

    700/1000 @0,95V 89°C furmark 1680x1050 FS PostFX 5 min (flat table)
    gpu tool comparison
    TSS_0 84,0 °C
    TSS_1 89,5 °C -> memIO
    TSS_2 84,5 °C

    shortly after:
    700/1000 @0,95V 88°C furmark 1680x1050 FS PostFX 5 min (flat table) >>> Catalyst A.I. disabled!
    shortly after (preheated :)):
    700/1000 @0,95V 87°C furmark 1680x1050 FS PostFX 5 min (slightly jacked up) >>> Catalyst A.I. disabled!
    gpu tool comparison
    TSS_0 81,5 °C
    TSS_1 87,0 °C -> memIO
    TSS_2 82,0 °C

    Next test will be the possible increased battery life with this setting.

    @Danteleet
    Again, thank you for this.

    How does this differ from the official July 2nd 2010 vBIOS updated located on the MSI Global Website?

    Updating information 7/27/2010[Tuesday]

    7/27/2010 - SetFSB information : Included MSI MegaBook X340(ICS9LPRS113AKLF), Packard Bell TJ-75("ASUS N61JQ").

    this was added on the day of StarCraft 2's release.

    I can confirm that it works though:

    146FSB stable aka 1.9Ghz on all four cores!

    I ran intel cpu burn test utility and it passed 5 runs, the highest temperature was 86c. No game will ever put that much stress. I'm happy now :).

    146 huh?
    now
    have you downloaded throttle stop?
    http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Benchmarks/ThrottleStop.shtml
    and can you go any higher...you dont need to bench or run anything. all your doing is trying to find the highest bclk

    reason im asking is..im stuck between a few computers, but i need one that over clocks fairly decent.
    thanks

    1: to stop your cpu from throttling
    2: to raise the watts to your cpu
    3: to raise the amps
    and a few other things....

    or you can reverse it to lower temps...

    I can however reach 4,000 marks on the FF XIV benchmark @ 720P :D.

    720QM @ 1.9Ghz & ATI 5870 @ 850/1040 (hit 81c)

    For some reason my core can overclock extremely high (the memory severely sucks :(), and I'm still testing, I think it can go higher. I'm also still using the latest BIOS which undervolts the card. I bet I can do over 900 w/ 1.1v.

    EDIT:

    bios max is 860... MSI :mad: :mad: :mad:

    edit nm, I enabled unofficial overclocking in the AfterBurner config file. I can now pass 860Mhz.
