I found the current GE72 Apache Pro and GS70 Stealth Pro have similar spec, and wondering which one would be a better pick.

According to reviews, GS70 have a better ssd, slim but some reviews said it have a worse heat issue due to its slim design. It is expensive but have a deal right now. GE70 have a smaller ssd , better heat design but bulkier.

It is hard to find up-to-date comparison and reviews online of (gtx970m) current model, a big portion of the online reviews are based on older version (e.g. with gtx860m). So I wonder if anyone know how good/bad both of the current models are? And how do they compare to each other(especially the temperature)?

    Which one would you recommand?

It comes down to whether you want the slimmer machine. Sacrifices are made to be slimmer (runs a bit hotter, weaker speakers, etc.)

The GS70 is slimmer and more portable, the GE72 is cooler running and has a longer battery life.

GS70 focuses more on performance even thou the GPU is equally the same as GE72.
Some say GE72 runs hotter, but GS70 can run pretty hot as well.
GE72 is leaning more toward premium value segment, and GS70 is mainstream premium.

They are going to be pretty similar in performance for the most part. Maybe it just comes down to if you would rather pay the $100 more and get the extra 128gb SSD, or save that? Maybe you have a need for the DVD drive on the GE72 (or upgrade it to a bluray drive, or put a different hard drive in there later possibly).

First I'm gonna say, that between these two laptops, the decision must be made by physically holding both devices, comparing each to one another, they are very so similar.

Then I'm gonna Quote notebookcheck.net in the temperature section

    GS70:
MSI cannot invalidate the laws of physics when it comes to thermal issues; the installed fans are definitely too small. The only area of the laptop that still has tolerable temperatures when playing demanding games is in front of the keyboard. Both the laptop's back area and underside reach such a high temperature that no one will want to pick it up anymore. Use on the lap is only possible during medium load.

    GE62/72:
The GE62/72 got through the stress test (Prime95 and FurMark run for at least an hour) on and off battery power with varying results: while connected to power, the graphics core ran at full speed (949 MHz). The processor clocked from 2.8 to 2.9 GHz. We reached this state on battery power as well - at least, for the first ten minutes. Then the GPU (2.4 to 2.6 GHz) and especially the GPU (135 to 500 MHz) throttled back markedly.

With this information, you know that GS70 begins to throttle down performance in heavy 3d application before a GE62/72 would do, and a 62/72 very rarely throttles down GPU. GE62/72 throttles the CPU down, which is another thing because that's how intel designed their cpu.

I have the GE72. The only senario where I imagine myself having a GS70, is if I could answer yes to the following: Are you travelling a lot, or do you need a portable device for school.

If temperature/thermal budget is a primary concern then GT series will be the only valid choice since this model has the best thermal capacity.
