i just recently purchased an EX 625, and i really enjoy the laptop its beautiful and runs everything that i could ask for very smoothly. ive recently purchased ultimate x64 in hopes of upgrading from home premium x86 to ultimate x64. well i can go through the entire installation process, then suddenly after my first log on after installed fully my desktop stayed open for about 10 seconds and then automatically shut down. after the shut down my computer wouldnt load past the green bar vista loading screen. it just loaded for like an hour before i shut it off. and when i ran it on safe mode it would load pass crcdisk.sys does anyone understand why this is occuring??? or has anyone successfully loaded x64 on this laptop before?

I got the same problem as you do Andrew. Try going into the BIOS and turn off/disable ACHPI. I haven't tried it coz I'm to lazy to reformat my laptop again.

Come on Andrew! Try it! I've formatted my lappy more than 10 times before I knew about ACHPI. Do it for the team! :D

Ok I made a new partition and installed win7 x64. Works perfectly with ACHPI on. I still haven't tried vista x64.

ok a new member of the team andrew! spider, check your bios settings, see if the ACHP is turned on. If it is, turn it off then reinstall vista x64.

PS Tell us if it works. :D

    hi xenile,

my hdd is set to ide and achi compatible. i installed win 7 x64 this way (it works), but have not been able to switch achi on (win 7 crashes upon entering desktop). when i install vista x64, on those settings, same issue.

    thanks

Wait you set ACHI OFF before you installed Win7 x64? Mine was pre-set on ON when I installed Win7 x64 and didn't have a problem but when I tried Vista x64, I get the same problem like you and andrew.

Yeah when you change the setting of ACHI when you already have an OS installed it will mess up the configuration. Hence, you need to set it first before installing any OS.

    P.S. I'm dual booting Win7 x64 and Vista x32 with ACHI ON.

I ran Windows 7 x64 and I'm currently Vista SP2 x64 without an issue and with AHCI On. Try resetting your bios to default values, save it and then trying installing again. Also you probably need to format your hard drive and do a clean install for Vista x64.
