Not sure what kind of advice you're expecting but you made it clear that you both NEED to buy from tigerdirect.com AND get a portable MSI laptop.

I don't see any other option than the one you mentioned: GS60. If you have the extra budget, which you don't I assume, you could go for the 3K version of that laptop.

I'm surprised there is such a thing as a credit card that forces you to use it in one place :/

As a programmer get the GT60-424, best keyboard.

Well you mentioned both the portable AND 14" so the only system that fits the bill is the GS60. And it certainly doesn't suck :)

So the GT60-424 is cheaper than the GS60, they both the same specs but you mentioned in another thread that the GT60 was better than the GS60? Why

the gt60 is much larger so the cooling is better. of course, that also means it wont be as portable. the 870 in the thin chasis of the gs60 could lead to some heat issues. however, based on what you'll be doing with it and what games you play, the 860 would be fine for you, and it runs cool enough that it shouldnt be a problem in the ghost

The GT60 is less portable yes, but still suitable for class.

The GT series is deeper and the keyboard is deeper too allowing for a slightly nicer key action making typing as easy as possible which will be important.

I haven't used the GS series keyboard but it does seem less deep. Is it like the Asus N550 keyboard or even shorter?

For me it's the feed back and the slit curve on the GT that I like.

Both are very good notebook keyboards, the GT just has that extra travel due to the width advantage which makes it that bit nicer.
