Hi, I just ordered a GT70 202 for myself and I'm wounding what to name it. So far all I have come up with is Star(from the MSI name), timedestroyer, or ivy(for the i7).... I need some need. So I would really love it if you guys could throw out some names, comments, or even share your own name.

Back in the day we used to come up with themes. Lord of the Rings, Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Transformers, South Park, The Simpsons, or whatever. These days I call it laptop, desktop, server, wife's laptop, kids laptop....

My former Fujitsu was named Fujisan and the other which I am temporarily using is Fujiama.

    I believe I'm going to go with a GT70.
When I get it I'll find a name for it. Perhaps Blazer, Meteor or Firestorm! Has to be something fast right?

My gt60 is called quadmaster. My former (gt630) was called megarig. And then I have masterrig as well. He controls the rest of my toys.

I have always found Jainism fascinating, in a secular manner. On a whim I named my first real desktop after one of the Siddhas, and ever since it has become a tradition. My new powerpro 11:36-680 shall be named after Patanjali.

I name my laptop laptop. Everytime I talk about it everybody knows what I'm talking about and I don't sound like a complete nerd, since I don't like owning multiple ultimate-gadgets at one time (I wouldn't know which to use and I couldn't enjoy them properly).

Hmmm, I was thinking of calling my nv78 'the steampunk mod'. But, I like blatantly simple names, like 'big red'. Thats definitely what I'd name my gx740 if I had one, the gx640 isn't all that big. Your gt70 isn't very red. I miss the red MSIs...

Think colors, flowers, animals, probably throw the word big in there, how about 'black lotus' or something? The lid design is kinda lotus-like.

You could also think about adding a G in there cause its a G series.

Its a great concept. But, I wish my friends cared about my laptops enough to actually keep track of what I name them, I don't think they would. :/ Might as well just keep the names as they are in my head, gx640, nv78, the Dell 1420 something, moms nc6400, that ancient single core toshiba, the HP dv1600 under the couch with a 12 cell battery that I upgraded to a dual core motherboard, wish I still had a 'the acer' but instead I have a the crappy 5720 and the way crappier 5630, etc.

Of course, laptops like the sony z, you can only call by their manufacturers name or just Z, Z2 etc.

Oh, another thing - speaking of manufacturers model names, you should all find out if your laptop has a cool codename and name it that because that is just awesome. E. G.:

    :)

MSI is an ODM though so they don't really have codenames AFAIK (or available schematics).

I call mine RedBird :p . Mostly because I had a very old IBM laptop which I jokingly named BlackBird. My only other gadget that has a name is my huge WD external HDD which is called FATBOY.
