cyberpowersystem.com - talking to staff was horrible even in the live chat. Customer service was horrible. Bunch of asians with accents with foul and cocky attitudes, (Im asian myself so im not being racist). Tech support was ok but much better than the customer service but they weren't really knowledgable. I wind up fixing the problem myself. Warranty: Pay to ship it back and wait 1-2 weeks to get it back. Another con: Harddrive had 2mb cache while other companies probably ship with 8mb cache harddrives. Also horrible resellerratings

ibuypower.com - seems to be the exact site of cyberpower however they are located in different parts in California. My cousin has order from them before and he says the customer service was really good. So im guessing they are not so bad. Warranty: Pay to ship it back and wait 1-2 weeks to get it back.

xmeld.com - I never order from them but sent them emails, they were really helpful and seemed happy to answer your question promptly.

laptoplogic.com - There is one person that sells MSI barebones and customizes to your liking. He does not have a personal site however he offers great customer service and offers the best prices for the stuff you are getting. You get seagate momentus drives which most companies will probably not put into their systems. Check him out his name is fords8. I really feel he's the best, i regret taking the cheaper price of cyberpower than ordering from him but too late now.

thats all for now anybody else had experiences with other companies?

one more thing the only reason why i ordered from cyberpower was that it was the cheapest, but the cheapest winded up also being the worst.. my opinion you would try to get a warranty from the reseller.

i agree with your recs but one suggestion- you may want to clarify that you never "ordered" from xmeld... the way it's written it seems like your telling people not to order from xmeld which I don't think is what you're trying to communicate

congrats on your laptop! is there a way to use one of the hotkeys to enable/disable the touchpad on the MS-1029?

    thanks

ISTNC sells them. Although I know they've had some controversial background, but in terms of reseller to customer relations, they seem to be pretty good.

I have been impressed with the upfront way that RawPowerPC has handled the memory issue on the MSI-1029. They also have good ratings and good feedback from people who have bought from them. I have also heard good things about Xmeld.

actually, they don't sell the MS-1029... I talked to Gwen this week and she says they will remove the MS-1029 link from their site

As some of you know, I'm researching the MS-1029 and am thinking of buying it. While searching the net, I ran across the MS-1029 at ABSPC.COM. They are a pretty good company. I bought my first desktop from them in 2001. They are on the expensive side and they don't offer the 1 GB PC 4200, but I thought I'd let you guys know about them.

yeah it isnt that hard to build it yourself.. however some resellers try to get you a non dead pixel system before shipping so when you buy a barebone not only will you have higher chances of getting one with dead pixel you also have to stick with the msi warranty.. i prefer having the reseller's warranty.

no company does however, some companies examine their notebooks before sending them out.. they try to get you ones with no dead pixels.. some company do and some company could careless.

also its better to have a reseller's warranty than the msi warranty.

I would recomend rawpowerpc. I got my laptop from them and they were fantastic. They were very helpful in determining my purchase and went out of the way to make sure I am satisfied.

i bought for a friend a customized MS-1029 from Xmeld.com. we find our experience with them to be very satisfying from beginning to end. my friend is also very satisfied with his notebook. he has been using it at least 8 hours a day for the past two months and so far he has not encountered any problem with it. although Xmeld may not be the cheapest for a spec-by-spec comparison with other resellers, but the few additional dollars have shielded us from potential out-of-box problems when you have to assemble it yourself. i would not hesitate recommending Xmeld to others scouting for reliable MSI customizable notebooks.

paid a little more to buy a 1029 from rawpower - I am in montreal and needed to ship to my ado son in California and needed somebody who will support him in case of problems later. The ordering process was very nicely supported, the MT-40 CPU not being in stock through the X-mas season for quite a while. They straight talked me all the way. Would have loved the machine to have been build a day or two quicker during the building phase, but that is just nit-picking. So far, no problem with the machine, as from what I had been told.

Researched this well before placing the order, and so far so good.

Rawpowerpc was great when I bought my 1022. They continue to be on the ball, answering all of my questions.
