Have a nice day, I have a MSI GT72vr. My notebook has a battery problem. The other day, the electric suddenly turned off. Later, when I pressed the Notebook button, it did not open. When the electric came again, the notebook opened. However, when I disconnected the plug from my laptop, my notebook was closed again. Then I activated the battery calibration program while the adapter was installed. But my notebook closed again. The battery light is blinking orange. How we can solve this problem. Thanks in advance.

    EDIT:
    SOLVED
Hi, I think the problem is completely solved. I open the notebook. I read an article from the Internet. Incorrect connection may occur when moving the device or during installation in connection cables. I pulled out the battery connection cable. I pressed air in the cable socket and in the socket. Also, the white wire, which is close to the battery reset button, is slightly tilted earlier. I straightened the cable. There is no orange light problem at the moment.
After this, calibrate the battery with "MSI Battery Calibration" program. I've tried it in heavy 3D applications. The battery is running smoothly .And thanks to everyone who has help.
    Update:
Also in 3D applications, when the battery was 40% Vram speed was 810MHz. I charged and discharged the battery 5 times. As a result, this error has been fixed.Full charging and discharging of the battery strengthens the battery.(Eco mode is active. And Nvidia power settings: Maximum)

I'm unsure what the issue is as of now.

So the notebook turned off one day and didn't boot up again, after a little while it would boot again but as soon as you try to recalibrate the battery it would shutdown again while having the adapter again?

    How are your temperatures?

Sounds to me the battery might of discharged to much. Try resetting the EC but having no power to the laptop and place a little paper clip into the small hole near the audio jack side for 30 seconds the replace the power chord and see if it will charge again after that.

That seems like a battery issue indeed, so best to reach out to MSI to get a warranty service on it. But if it's out of warranty, you can purchase a new one and change it easily if your battery is detachable. If it's internal battery, it's still easy to change but just slightly more work, buy the battery and then replace it.

    Thanks for helps.

    Hello Cüneyt,
Do you mean that your computer will not turn on when you disconnect AC adapter even if your battery has electricity?
If yes, please power off the notebook, remove the AC power, and use a straightened paperclip to insert the battery reset hole and reset the notebook. I attached a picture to inform you where is the battery reset hole.
Note: After resetting the computer system, please connect the AC power when first bootup the notebook.
    And then confirm your problem.
Thank you and have a good day.

    Best Regards,

Make sure to fully test the battery to see if it still shuts the system off abruptly.

In that case, try opening the laptop, remove the battery cable for a few minutes. then plug it back in and close the back panel lid back

You can use the MSI application Battery Calibration Tool, linked here to assist in determining the battery's status.

The battery needs to be replaced.

One thing you can try BEFORE replacing the battery is unplugging the connector and cleaning the connector end and the motherboard end with Deoxit D5.
Try that. You can get Deoxit off Amazon easily. (wipe off any excess before powering on. It's not conductive afaik, so it doesn't have to be spotless).

But keep in mind any liquid that is not conductive, which sits in air, picks up ions slowly, and the ions eventually cause some conduction.

    http://store.caig.com/s.nl/ctype.KB/it.I/id.703/KB.215/.f

If that doesn't work, RMA the battery. It's dead.

    Hello to everyone.
Status: I have used the notebook for a long time depending on the adapter. I never used the MSI battery calibration program. Therefore, over time, the battery has lost its power. I noticed this when there was a electricity failure. The battery light is blinking orange. So the notebook without adapter did not work.
I came across a video while searching for solutions on the Internet. The video was about battery shock. I tried this with an interesting method. So I turned off the notebook. Then I pulled the adapter out of the wall socket. I press the power button on the notebook. But the fan sounded and turned off. I reattached the adapter to the wall socket. Then get the adapter out of the wall socket right away. I pressed the power button again on the notebook. Again the fan sounded and turned off. I repeated this event 3-4 times. My aim was to shock the battery when the notebook was off. Eventually the notebook was turned on without the adapter plugged in. Battery level 96%. This time I waited for the battery to run out. Then the notebook shut down automatically. When I connected the adapter to the notebook, the notebook was turned on. However, the battery was not charging. Battery indicator 0%. And I ran the MSI battery calibration program. The Notebook is started to charge. The battery light was white. Calibration took 4+ hours. The notebook was working when I pulled the adapter from the wall socket. Good day to everyone.

Sounds like the battery discharged way to much then if its now working thats great but i would get a replacement battery at some stage before it happens again to which it will.

That's pretty standard behavior since battery measurements of power in vs power out aren't perfect. The BMS errs on the side of safety to prevent over charging and over discharging. Android phones used to have quirks similar to this more frequently back when they were newer. It generally points to a lesser-sophisticated BMS/power management system. Not necessarily bad, just not as well programmed and thought out.

Hello, again the battery problem has come to fruition. Also orange light problem. Could there be a problem with the battery connection? I do not want to give a service. Does the service do good? I am not sure. I looked at videos of battery replacement on the internet. All parts have to be removed. Will the service install the thermal pads correctly? I doubt it. What should I do ?

And.I just shake the notebook. Cable sounds came in. I connected again adapter. The battery icon turned white. However, it still closes after a short period of time as it is still pulled from the adapter.
Is there a problem in the battery or is there a problem with the connections?

Based on the fact your less than 1 year old battery already lost 30% of its capacity, it likely has a bad cell and is faulty. Just the luck of the draw when it comes to lithium batteries. No manufacturer will ever have a 100% track record when it comes to this. Chances are it works under light loads and/or when fully charged because the voltages are in the right ranges fresh off the charger, but as soon as it sees a load, the voltage will sag even harder and go below accepted values, causing malfunctions in the notebook as well as safety cut-off mechanisms to engage to prevent dangerous over-draw and over-discharge scenarios for the remaining cells that are still intact. One bad cell is all it takes to ruin a pack, and sometimes the cell does not even have to be outright faulty, but just a sub-performing cell. Sorry for your hassle. It is time to get it warrantied and replaced on MSI's dime before your year is up. Good luck!

Looks like the heatsink/gpu/mobo can come out all as a unit without taking them apart from one another, so I'd say no.

You won't need to as the battery and CPU/GPU are separate components.

You don't need to remove the CPU/GPU heatsinks, however you need to remove the gigantic plastic shroud that is blocking everything.
There was a video posted some time back (a few months ago) in the Gt72VR or GT62VR thread by pedro69, some chinese video, which showed the black shroud being removed. I don't have the link handy. You'll have to find it yourself.

Yeah that's the one. Around 2:15 they take apart the screws and attachments required for removing that huge shroud.

Thank god the Titan laptops don't have that....

I really wish everyone would just go back to the "everything is accessible without taking out the mobo" model, though I'm sure that's wishful thinking.
