This happens like once or twice a day, everything is working fine, and suddenly both keyboard and mouse are not working, no button is responding, ctrl-alt-del is also not working.

This is solved by either clicking on power button to get pc to sleep (which goes back to lockscreen), or by lock screen or using mouse to get into lockscreen.

When i reach the lock screen, its responsive again, and everything works. it a wearied problem, i want to know if its software related or hardware, i dont want to format my pc as it has alot of stuff going on in it right now.

    thank you.

Could be software or firmware. Try uninstalling the drivers for your mouse and keyboard from Device Manager, and then let Windows re-install the drivers. Also, try a chipset update for your laptop.

ok, still having this problem, that didnt work. lol is there even a way to find out what is causing this, i mean some sort of log or a tool that says if there is keyboard/touchpad connected.

Have i mentioned that once the both devices stop responding, i can use mouse to go to lock screen.

Hmm, are you running Windows 8 or Windows 7? I don't think you have failing hardware. It sounds like buggy software/firmware to me. You can try checking the Event Viewer in Windows, though that only records error logs, and if your mouse and keyboard problem isn't producing error messages or crashes, then there probably won't be anything in the log.

The only other thing I can think of to do would be to see if there is a firmware update, or open the laptop up and reseat the connections for your keyboard and mouse. If you try the latter, be advised that doing this:

    a) Voids your warranty (if applicable).
    b) Requires you to have a degree of technical knowledge, as you must gain access to the motherboard and take precautions to not damage anything else in the process.
