    Hey,

So I've had the GX660r for around 3 months now, and I am loving it. However I have had a few problems.

1.) the disc drive is ed, computer doesn't recognise at all, and if i push it in very slightly my whole computer will instantly turn off (?)

2.) Yesterday at a New Years party I was DJing for the night with a friend, and my laptop is the laptop we use, it's fast, it looks pretty good and has traktor on it. Went to turn it on, wouldn't turn on, said it couldn't find the SSD drive. I took it apart, was all plugged in, put it all back togeather and it still didn't work. So I left it for 15 mins and after that it worked. again?

3.) My left hinge is starting to come apart..

Can anyone help me with these problems or has no one else had these? I don't want to send it off, exams coming up in the next few weeks, and I need it for the coursework etc.

I have no idea what's up with problems one and three, unfortunately, but for question two I'm wondering what kind of SSD you have.Is it a Sandforce drive, by any chance?

And as an afterthought, I'd just plain exchange it for a new one. The hinge shouldn't be breaking like that, and I'm thinking there's a serious problem if the ODD SATA is causing the laptop to freak out.

It's a Crucial C300 256GB SSD, was one of the best at the time of buying this laptop.

The hinge isn't broken, but the plastic keeps popping out, and after having the Alienware m15x I only worry, as we both never had great experiences with those.

Just realised, we've both got rid of the AW and gone for the MSI! Haha, great minds think alike

this laptop tend to have problem with non intel based ssd, not all, but some ssd do have the problem being not able to detect like yours.

have you tried to update the ssd to the latest f/w?

I had a similary problem with a sandforce-based OCZ Vertex LE. Someone pointed me to this thread, where people mentioned that some notebooks and desktop motherboards didn't play nice with Sandforce.

I eventually sold the Vertex, and the new owner--he owns a G73--hasn't come back to me with problems.
