I purchased an MSI GT70 gaming laptop 4 years ago. After 2 years, the motherboard died and i got it replaced just days before the warranty expired. After another 2 years, it failed again and i had to replace it.

I have never before seen such poor quality. My dell desktop lasted 10 years and every Mac I've ever owned has also lasted >10 years.

The GT70 sits atop a cooling pad and it never gets bumped around or subject to any form of stress. It is treated with the utmost care at all times.

Have other msi owners gone through this? I'm really regretting not having purchased an Asus.

I used a MSI GT70 from August 2012 to Sept 2016 with no problems, I'm a pilot and I carried that thing with me everywhere until the GPU was too weak for the games I like to play, I then I bought a GT73 because of my positive experience. The GT70 is still being used by my son to play Minecraft and the like. I had a friend that bought an Asus around the same time as I bought the GT70 and he had some real problems dealing with their customer support.

My GT70 is nearing 4 years - no problems. I've (almost?) never seen a GT70 die ; just the lower video cards - GTX 660M, GTX670M did have an evil tendency to die prematurely.
