Today I did a test on my ge75 and the results surpriced me.
I playing for long time on external monitor but havent check that the difference it's so big.
Really the optimus it's very very bad.
At some new laptops like asus has the option to disable it. Why these engineering do that bad..

Optimus has always been a midway solution that hinders performance at the expense of "automagically" switching for best battery. It's the price of conveniece and I agree that nvidia did a rather bad job all in all.
For the longest time, the dedicated Gaming laptops had no optimus, and when they did use IGP, it was with a mux switch of sorts.
But the market trend ended this. People simply buy optimus enabled laptops. By large volumes, and they don't care about the issues. Optimus has a small penalty to it when you run at low FPS, but the penalty gets bigger the higher framerate you want to push.
The same thing happened with socketed CPUs- people wanted ever thinner laptops, and thus we ended up with soldered only solutions.
So, why is the engineering so bad? Because of us, the consumers, who speak with our wallets and ended up buying these "bad" products over and over and told the manufacturer this is what we want. Obviously, US here in the forums like to dig deeper find the issues, and we no longer have much choice left. Sadly unless we get an increase in demand for dedicated GPU only, or mux switch only, we cant do anything about it.
Except for gaming on an external monitor And hope that the video-out is routed to the dGPU and not the iGPU. -
But that with optimus it's really so stupid.
I have 200-300 frames at apex legends on external monitor and with same settings I have 150- 250 on laptop screenryzeki likes this. -

i just got a MSI GE66 and it has basically what is a software "mux" switch in Dragon Center now where you can pick the system to use the dedicated GPU now all the time. You pick it and your comp will need to reboot and it switches to nvidia card all the time if you want. that was a pleasant surprise when i discovered that in the new laptop
