    Hi,

My brother had a msi gt72 with a gtx 980m (upgrade from me). After 1 year of use now the laptop got black screen with the unplugged usb sound, he bought a new gtx 980m and this is the same.

    - Win10 reinstall done 3 Time

    - Thermal past changed also

Wenn he removed thz gpu the laptop work 100%, what can be the problem? Pcie port default?

    Thank you for your help

Sounds like the MUX switch got stuck issue.

Remove the MXM card and boot without it. It will restart a few times and should boot on the Intel IGPU. Once into windows and enable Windows Remote Desktop.

Shutdown the laptop and reinstall the MXM GPU. It should flip back to dGPU or stay on IGP.

Boot back into windows and then if you have a screen login and press the MUX button and let it reboot. If not screen log in to Windows Remote Desktop, press the MUX button. On the laptop and use the system remoted in to press the OK button.

Yes basically some times when going from iGPU to dGPU via the mux button it can get stuck in between, showing no screen output, however i just had another idea. Have you tried an HDMI screen connection to see if that gets a signal from the system if you can't remote desktop into the system.

When I used to get the black screen because of a MUX issue, turning off the laptop, then holding down the power button for 10-20 seconds to reset the BIOS would fix it.

    or power delivery
similar to many devices + this gpu - burned mobo

45s power button is CMOS RESET

    +ec reset
    EC
    - fully shutdown ,.,.no AC .,,.small hole on back-cover "30s"
after this add AC "wait" 5min ,..,run system

it is possible that even if you manage to get it up and running
d-gpu render still trigger this problem - shutdown in stress

here is possible only mod vbios - lock lower voltage "not stress this machine fully"
verify battery wear level / PSU voltage .,,others problems

.,.,.but a lot of users exchanged it all and nothing happened
must be burned any small resistor on mobo and higher power delivery ,..,trigger limit

    will see
    good luck

So after new installation of win10 the Internal graphic adapter works without any problem but when we restart after pressing the GPU button, win10 start and there is no GTX to be found, and black screen after.

I tried to flash the vbios with nvflash but there is no "graphic adapter to be found"

I'm not sure but can be the PCIE burned ???
