I just recently upgraded to gtx780m on my old msi gt60 with 670m--> 680m--> 780m now. Problem is its working fine but with the boost or turbo, i am experiencing throttling(i think its the cpu) . Same thing with my old 680m card. Its working fine on stock speed but if i overclock a tiny bit it will throttle.

Is there any way to disable boost on 780m to core speed 771 instead of 849?

    Hi!

I have the same problem (670mx→780m gtx) and beta EC doesn't help, always lag from cpu...

Need more info, charts of cpu and gpu behaviour, temperatures, fps charts.

Ahh the gpu is in my m17xr4 now. Anyway i flashed a msi 780m vbios over it and optimus is working and no need to mod inf drivers. But both the msi and clevo vbios i tried all same issues.

Running unigine heaven, the core clocks remain at 849 but the fps drops to like 15-20 fps every few secs. Even when its throttling the gpu clocks still stay at 849. Even when i am using the old 670m and 680m on msi gt60, everytime i overclcoked a bit, it will throttle. Same thing gpu core clocks running fine but fps massive drop. On the 680m, any increase or overlocking the 771 core clocks or the 1800 memory will result in this behaviour. Flashing the beta EC doesn't work too.

So i d like to think its a cpu issue rather than a gpu issue.

Oh ya my temps is about 82.

Have you checked a graph of the clocks, for instance via MSI Afterburner? My downclocking 680M on my GT70 could clearly be seen on MSI Afterburner graphs. It probably could be fixed with a modified vbios by Svet, but I don't mind (so far).

yeah pretty frustrating, the cpu just take a dive to 1.1 ghz randomly causing the throttling

What does XTU say about power levels and temps etc?
