Hmmm...I like the aesthetics. It looks like a nice, clean build. Hopefully battery life is good and the 970M version(s) cost below $1300.

60Wh accu...which is quite inefficient. and 150W PSU is also very weak

I expect the PSU of 150W to be only for the 965M version.
The 970M version will probably get a 180W PSU.

    @sasuke256 i don´t think so. The GS60 2QE and the GS70 2QE (both with GTX970M) has also the 150W PSU.

Now that it has been seen, it cannot be unseen. When looking at the pictures the shell looks like cheap plastic. Also the hinge attachment looks cheap and weak. That's much worse. I wished MSI would put more quality on their casing.

Looks nice, I hope it will be cheap like the current GE. Great cooling upgrade over the current GE and even GT60/70 I think

weak psu, and still no 980m 15" for msi, this is a market share they're losing...

The p650sg is 2mm thicker but has a well cooled 980m, i do not see the difference between the gs60 970m 6gb version and this laptop

This is the GE line. It's not going to have the best performance because it's supposed to be cheaper than the GT/GS series.

    @wickette for a GTX980M in a 15.6" you must wait for the GT62 :)

IMO, Base on the photo provided, the 27mm thickness might be base on the thinnest point of the machine, and it might not be as slim as it shown in the spec list

True, the GE is another line, although GS60, GT60, WS60 look similar they are not identical.

I remember a review on this - it should keep you nice and toasty during the winter months as it casually runs into the 70's when performing light workloads. Hits 90+ c degrees under load.. Unacceptable for a laptop these days. Opted for dell precision 3800 as a high spec workstation instead.

well, if you compare it to the Sager NP8650 with similar specs (okay, 12 GB RAM for GE62 and 8 GB for NP8650), the GE62 is 20$ cheaper (plus it gets a IPS-panel). so it will highly depend on the cooling of the new GE62.

the NP8650 with triple fan cooling won't have any problems with the GTX965M - remember how well it even cools the 970M. the downside (for me) would be the missing optical drive. sure that can be solved externeal, but if its internal like the GE62, you don't have to mess with extra stuff to be carried with you. and the NP8650 offers vastly better storage oportunities (two M.2-slots, two SATA-slots. for those, who need so much space, thats a BIG plus. one SATA plus one mSATA in the GE62 is still very okay.

summary: nice job so far, MSI!

It's on both Gentech's and Xotic's sites. Gentech allowed for the addition of a second SSD in its config options.

This is a nice refresh for the GE series. New specs and cooling design seems to be a win, and their pricing is spot on. When I was in college, I would definitely consider a GE series.

It has a lot to live up to considering the GT60 series has done in the past. I am liking the value and new design though too.

Contrariwise, I think it's very bad, at least in Europe. You can find alternatives with 970m for about 20 euros LESS. I think the price difference between 965m and 970m is so insignificant, that they are hoping for fools to take the bait. It's true, though, that msi ge62 is still not listed as "in stock", so I hope the prices will drop significantly when it will be available.

I think at that point it will come down to the overall value proposition between the two. Like processor, screen type (ie 965M with IPS vs 970M with TN), etc. Plus the GE62 Pro will have a 970M in it.

Obviously it won't be the best choice for everyone, but more choice on the market's a good thing. If nothing else, it'll push competitors to offer better.

GE62 is now available at Xotic, Gentech, Newegg, and Amazon. I pinged ibuypower but they didn't have a date when it would be available on their website.

Right now, it looks like we won't be getting our shipments until April unfortunately :(. It takes about 2 months for them to build and ship to us. There is also Chinese New Years around the corner, in which production will stop for a few weeks around that time. We're trying our best to see if we can get them sooner! but no date set in stone currently.

hhhmmm, the GE62 is just 60$ cheaper than a similar configured Sager NP8651 (both with IPS or PLS, AC-WiFi, basic HDD, 8 GB RAM and Win 8.1). taking into account the probably way better cooling for the Sager and the performcange advantage of the 970M (in the Sager) over the 965M (in the MSI), this offer does look a little mediocre.

on the other hand, this is true for most laptops with the 965M at the moment. In Germany, the upgrade-price from 965M to 970M is just below 100€. this is IMHO way to small for the performance gap. either the 970M is sold to cheap or the 965M is a rippoff. :(

will be interesting to see, where the prices for the 965M-laptops will be in the end.

Don't forget the better warranty support on the MSI as standard, 2 year domestic (1 year accidental) with 1 year international.

Good point you have there. ;)

Still my point remains, that the price gap between the 965M and the 970M is way to small.

That's nvidia for you, they want the 965m to be used based on form factor requirements rather than cost it seems.

I know you aren't the one to blame. but I am sur you can understand, that from the viewpoint of a customer, that thing is either pure nonsense or a rippoff. and both options make NV look rather bad.

It may just need time for prices to settle after demand and pricing on chips settle, there have been some changes in currency values which have knocked prices around a bit recently.

This could be true from a pure performances perspective. But the actual machines have different selling points. For someone that does not care as much for GPU performance, they might find the warranty more valuable. Also keep in mind the Sager does not come with OS.

Nvidia is weird sometimes hahaha :p

Am i the only one who gets a very "trimmed down gt72" vibe from this laptop? :D not saying thats a bad thing haha i really love this new design msi has taken upon their newer models. Completely stands head and shoulders above the older design (which of course still has a sentimental place on my shelf :p).

well prices went down already. now I can find a GE62 with i7-4720, GTX965M, 8 GB RAM and 1 TB HDD plus OS for 1450€ which seems legit. a similar Schenker P505 costs 1510€. the almost same machine (but most likely not with IPS-panel) costs 1313€ by One (another Clevo reseller). so still the difference remains ...

Can someone make a review already?

Looks like people from newegg have already received some rigs. Probably a bad sign... the last time I desperately waited for a review, while hundreds of people already received their device, and it took official review sites unbearingly long to make a review, the laptop didn't turn out so good after all :p

It's the same video I mentioned on the previous page (there is a german and english version). I wouldn't even call it "review", just a rough presentation of the looks and its power. Nothing mentioned about important things like temperatures, cooling, fan noise, chassis opening, upgradeability etc. :(

Did anyone once order an MSI from GenTech PC?

I've just seen a minor gimmick which is, that you can order with a different logo (instead of the annoying "MSI-G-aming-Series"). However I can't see if the logo replaces only the symbol or completely replaces the symbol+text. Anyone?

EDIT: it only replaces the symbol, but not the text, as one can see here better... pointless
