MSI MS-1042. Have no idea when it comes out. I asked, no answer :(. It's my notebook of choice (or maybe the DV9000).

Well, I believe it's predecessor (the MS-1036/L715) had it, so I don't see why they would take it out on this one (they look parctically the same), but there's always a chance.

EDIT: If you look at the pics ColdSun posted, on the right side of the lappy, there's a beige connector that looks like a DVI port. But I'm not 100% sure.

Yes indeed, it does have a DVI. :) This is the laptop I am waiting for. The question is WHEN is it coming!

    MSG2392,

Do you have a link to any information about the HP DV9000? I was looking at the DV8000t until I found this MSI.

I think I found a place where the L735 is currently for sale. Unfortunately, that place is in Germany, and they want Euros, not dollars.
    :(
Honestly, my preference is to buy this laptop as a barebones kit, or from one of the vendors that hang around this forum. I've no interest in going international, dealing with currency exchange and such. But the problem is, it's getting towards the middle of July, and nobody knows when this thing, or any new TX2 laptops for that matter, are supposed to hit the street here in the US!

My question would be, how in the world do all of these other countries get new laptops (built around processors designed in this country, incidentaly) before we get them in the US?? Maybe one of the vendors around here can elaborate on this process. I'm sure there's a whole bunch of factors I'm ignorant of, patenting, legal wrangling, logistics, that simply preclude the US from getting the first shipments. But with all due respect to Germany, why in the world would a company choose to ship their product there before the US, when the US is simply the biggest single consumer of technological goods in the entire world?

RE : why in the world would a company choose to ship their product there before the US, when the US is simply the biggest single consumer of technological goods in the entire world?

One thought that comes to mind is testing the waters... I remember a while back when Nissian first came to the US. They badged the cars as "Datsun".... reason being from what I read in case the brand failed, the failure would not be associated with the word Nissan.

Then again it may be when introducing a new model of something that they look at the smaller markets first because of mfg'ing output... New model, new factory = reduced output. As you pointed out the US market is huge so maybe it's a case when a new model is introduced that they look at smaller markets.

I've noticed on other products I've bought thru the years when I go to do a search that other markets may indeed get the first items off the assembly line... and I've noticed that they always seem to have a higher percentage of problems... (having ver 1.0 software/hardware)....

While it's neat to have the first one off the line, I'd rather have one made six-months later..(V2.0 software /hardware)

To give an example in 1990 bought a Honda Civic.. It turned out the 89 models were made in Japan, the 90 models being made in Canada. While at the dealer I noticed every single 90 model having extreme tire wear, looked like someone had taken a razor blade and shaved the rubber off. Factory was new and they had incorrectly set the alignment wrong.
