    Hi,

    does the msi gx start without the GPU? Someone wants to buy a Notebook with very good Sound and a good Display for ~600€. CPU Power and GPU Power are not very important.
    My idea was to buy the msi GX70 for 900€ and sell the 8970m for ~300-350€. But will the Notebook work fine without the 8970m?

    Yes, it can start using the APU without the discrete GPU.

    Does it have the issue like GT series that when you use it without dedicated GPU, the fan blasts at full 100%?

    I have not tried it before so I am not sure.
    But I can probably test one if I can get my hands on a system.

    That would be great :)

    It's not really an issue, more like an annoyance since a full speed fan is so noisy haha :D

    Hello John,
    Aren't there any better options? In the end you will still end with a bulky, heavy and crippled game notebook that can't do games anymore ;)

    First of all thanks for the answer.

    @martin778

    Well the Notebook is not for me. He just wants a 17inch Notebook for a little bit of office and watching Blurays. So good speakers and a good Display is important to him. He wants to pay ~600€. So the best solution seems to be the MSI GX 70 for 900€ and to sell the 8970m for around 350€. I mean:

    "We already mentioned that the notebook does not have a Dynaudio certification, but this does not change the fact that the GX70 sounds better than many competitors.

    Beside the high maximum volume and the good bass we also like the Sound Blaster Cinema technology. Creative's sound optimization improves the 2.1 sound system and creates a richer and more powerful sound experience. Games, movies and music sound very precise and well-balanced as long as you do not use the highest volumes settings.

    There are not many notebooks that can keep up with this performance, hardly any manufacturer puts so much effort into the sound playback. "

    With the unlocked bios you can calm the fan by setting it to integrated only mode.
