This model is not available yet, the eta for the barebone (MS-1651) is mid august. The GX620 pre-configured model has no eta yet.

Ah okay, so its just a preconfigured 1651 by MSI.

I like the look of the GX620 though.

Yes, the chassis scheme will probably be as the previous version (glossy black) and have the "Turbo" feature.

The product is on the global site but usa models may not have the same features/specs:

    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=1529&maincat_no=135&cat2_no=271

USA site does not have the GX620 listed yet.

hopefully it is better than the GX600. Because my GX600 sucks donkey balls. I've read of folks that have not had any problems with their GX600 but I'm not one of them. If I could do it again I would have never purchased an MSI Laptop. You might be wise to do the same.

The 9600GT GDDR3 is great IMO, perfect for anyone short of a hardcore gamer.

I really need to know more about MSI build quality and tech support now.

It is a gaming laptop, you would think it would have a 256bit video card if it is for gaming. I would probably look into this computer if it had a 9800 GT or even a 9700 GTS...

xotic/power still gives the best deal if u need a 3 year warranty though, but if 1 year is all u want then AVA/RK is the way to go right now

I recently purchased the Asus M50VM-B1, but returned it because the B2 version came out and I like the wsxga+ screen. But then, the G50V came out, and I thought maybe I should get that one, but I just can't get over the color and styling. Also, in the asus forums, many have said that it is big and heavy. Now, I saw this MSI model and I think I am going with this one. The styling is good and so are the features. So it might not have the fastest video card, but it all comes together with the best options selections.

We need PICS!!!! and not just stock pics.

The screen freezes at least once a day, sometimes more. hasn’t happened in the last two days:- ). When that happens I have to unplug it and remove the battery. I do this so often that I leave the "lock" latch on the battery open an all times. There are times that the unit just refuses to power-on (hasn't happened in about three weeks). The unit just isn't reliable IMO. If I could do it again I would have never purchased an MSI laptop. If I were you I would go with a more reputable brand.

MSI's support is first-class though. I had to RMA it because of the power issue, they didn't end up doing anything other than flashing the bios because the unit powered up for them on the first try!. Both issues are intermittent and would be impossible for a tech to recreate without taking the unit home and using it for a day or so. Technicians do not do that so my problem will be forever unresolved.

gonwk, fill up their tech support form online, or leave a message when you call them. You probably hung up before they could answer your call.

That is a great price. Id still go with powernotebooks/xoticpc for 2 reasons. 1 is the servie and warrantee. Second is the higher resolution that ava doesn't offer in that link. Still if warranties and the resolution doesn't matter, that is a fantastic deal.

    My GX600 update:

I've been using the laptop everyday and for the most part the laptop works, but then again I cannot rely on it. Saturday I went to NYC and used the laptop extensively. Everything was fine up until about 8:00. At that time the laptop just shut off (while plugged in). The screen just went blank while I was in the middle of something important. After that the unit would not power on. When I replugged in the AC adapter the battery light would flick blue (meaning that the battery is changed) for a second and then nothing? The unit would not power on for the rest of the night. The next morning I tried to power the unit on and nothing happened (I really needed it and the thing let me down again). A few hours later it powered up fine. I used it the rest of the day without issue.

This morning I needed to read a few Emails (real quick in between meetings). The unit powered up fine… I did a few things but before I could get to my email, the screen froze. I had to take the battery out again to boot it. I never did get a chance to read my emails.

Its stuff like this that I have to deal with daily with my MSI laptop. I read the reviews before hand and they were all favorable. The only problem with the reviews is that they do not keep the unit for more than 2-weeks. My problems started cropping up a month later.

I would never, ever purchase another MSI laptop. This is from my experiences (7 months) with the GX600. My GX600 is a piece of crap. I would put the unit on Ebay but I wouldn’t wish this on my worse enemy. I should have got the Asus instead of this unreliable, constantly crashing MSI crap.

Maybe the GX620 is better. But I’m not willing to take the Gamble.

Spoonie, sorry to hear your story on MSI end, but I am sure there's always horrid story about each manufacturer including ASUS.

If they can't fix your problem because of the defective board. Simply cause electrostatic onto the board to have them replaced. Because they cannot detect the problem like you did (which requires 24HR human testing), so it's easier to short it out then return for warranty service. I know someone did this to get his problem resolved with ASUS because ASUS said "we don't see the problem so we can't fix it for you." So make that problem clear.

Moral issue: Don't do this if your notebook is not defective in any way.
