I got my barebones yesterday and installed all the parts I had got over the weekend, C2D T9400, 2x2gb OCZ, WD 320gb, and installed Windows 7. Everything is running fine. Flashed the bios and the firmware to the latest versions.
    I got 2 issues now:
    1) The red strip on the front of the laptop, just above the speakers, seems to be magnetized and pretty strongly too. Its magnetized even when the power is off and the battery is taken out. Its from the speakers mostly, but isnt there supposed some sort of shielding?

    2) SCM crashes when I shutdown or reboot; basically Win7 gives an error saying that this program cannot be shut down, and then there is some reference to memory error.

Any solutions people? I am going to install Vista and XP x64 on this machine later, just did not have the installation media at my home, had only my roommates 32-bit Win7.

Apart from the that, the machine is AWESOME. The screen is very good, with no bleeding. The machine is very quiet too. Installation was also easy.

Magnets are supposed to be there to hold the lid closed. Given that my 1651's got magnets strong enough that when I lost a couple screws I found them sticking to my lid, and yet my speakers are on the other side of the laptop, I imagine it's by design.

SCM worked fine for me in Vista 64.

    Eco/Turbo didn't work in XP x32
