    Hi

I recently just purchased a 0nc-002us notebook and i was looking to add an SSD to it. My laptop currently only has a 750gb hdd in it. My question is what kind of ssd do i buy (mSATA or SATA 3) and do i have to remove my 750gb hdd. Is it possible for me to have the 750gb hdd running in conjunction with the ssd. Ive read that a fresh install of windows 8 is needed (to the ssd) and all other storage (music, movies) should be kept on the hdd.

Thank you so much for your help

SATA III is ideal for performance reasons. You won't need to remove the hard drive, although it's best to put it either in a secondary drive bay or the optical drive bay (but to put it in the optical drive, you'll need to purchase a caddy), because only the primary drive bay is a SATA III connection; the others (mSATA included) runs at SATA II speeds.

You can technically do a disk image, but you need to take special precaution in aligning the drive. It's mostly agreed that a fresh install is ideal. And don't forget to look up guides on partitioning your SSD to allow for longevity and performance!
