Been trying to use the MSI-1651 mic for skype calls and the quality is horrible, always a lot of background noise (i think owing to the fan it is near). Tried to use it on TF2 and that also failed. Has anyone else had this problem and found a resolution (short of buying an external mic)?

    Thanks.

in Realtek Audio manager click on "Noise Suppression" and change the Microphone boost to +10.0 dB

anyway , it is the worst mic i've seen.

I've used the mic in the computer every so often, mostly when I'm too lazy to plug in the headphones w/mic.

In my experience, the built-in mic quality has been mediocre at most, but sufficient.I managed to reduce the noise by using the options in the Realtek HD Audio Manager that came with the 1651. My only problem, in any case, is that the person on the other side can hear the clicking of the keys in the keyboard when I type.

    Just my $0.02.

Have you ever considered using a bluetooth headset?

    kingtron,

thanks for the advice, I'll try and see. Did you allow exclusive application control or did you keep that option disabled?

    gladel,

I will probably end up going that route, then I can also use it on my cell as well. Any cheap but good quality headsets you would recommenced?

man , it is a bad mic , what ever we do
it is is difficult to replace it also.

so it is better to get an external one ;)

What I did for mine is that I bought a similar brand with my mobile phone that supports multiple pairing. Now, I use it for my mobile phone and my notebook computer.

Moreover, this Jabra BT8010 looks nice -- use one headset for mono (eg, driving, mobile chatting) and plug in the other for stereo (eg. music, games on your MSI). You might do a research first.
