    Which of these units wins?

The 1651 because it uses DDR3?

The 1722 refresh due out soon will use DDR3 also.

I would say the 1722 because of the Radeon card. I would say it is a better graphics card than the Nvidia version in the 1651. And the 1722 has one extra usb port (3 compared to 2). The 1722 is a 17" model, so it will be heavier (about 1.5 lbs more) and a bit bigger.

If size and weight are not an issue then the 1722 wins.

DDR3 memory has no practical benefit compared to DDR2 ATM.

Agreed about the memory, I will say this, if your looking to do some serious gaming then go with the 1722, the 4850 1GB is a powerful graphics card. The GTS 160m is also great..

Has anyone figured out yet whether the memory on the 1GB 4850 will be clocked at 800 like the AW ones or 850 like the 512 MB MSI?
