    Hi everyone!

Just bought myself a new laptop - MSI-1651 from AVADIRECT and already there is a problem. For some reason after coming out of stand-by mode and resuming Windows, the laptop cannot connect to my Wireless network for about 5 minutes or until I restart it. My previous laptop used to connect straight away and this one just says that it cannot renew IP address. Pressing 'Repair' does not help. Any suggestions why this is happening? I currently have the latest drivers for Intel Link 5100 installed and the BIOS has been updated to the latest version as well.

    Thanks in advance!

i have the same prob with my Msi Gx630.. i dont know any solutions.. i just hibernate now instead of going to sleep.. and actually if you hibernate right after you come out of sleep mode and resume ur session it seems to reconnect.. it just a little tweak not really a fix...
post it on the MSI forums in MSI website and see if they have a solution since this seems to be a common problem...

Actually I have the same model, but with the Intel 5300 WiFi link card. I have noticed under XP that it will occasionally disconnect then re-connect, but I am using a crappy DLINK 615 router in b/g mode and can see 6 other networks in my neighborhood on a "good" day. I suspect that when one those go up or down that I am sometimes kicked off of my network, but I blame the DLINK. Usually I am re-connected in 30s or so, and the only time that it takes longer is if the WiFi switch at the top got turned off then on again or was off period(under linux if it's off at boot the kernel modules will not load requiring manual loading, but under xp you should be able to open the browse networks panel and usually it should already be connected to your default by the time it pops up). Mine usually comes back up at the same signal strength as it was before being knocked off.

OTOH mine has a faulty keyboard, so I'm RMAing it in January (kind of pointless to do so now). (Stops responding to keyboard/trackpad/hw keys but otherwise the machine still runs... very annoying but fortunately fairly infrequent, but random.)
