I have read thru all of comments in several other thread on MSI-1029, but still have more questions to those who have owned them:I have narrowed down my choice to this and ABS Mayhem G3 Eclipse. I am not a gamer, but plan to get one for intensive 3D imaging processing for work. I will also be casual movie watcher. Below are my crucial points to help me decide.

    1. WXGA screen: would be nice to have direct visual comparison. How good is it if compared to other name brands such as Fijitsu, Sony, HP DV8000, or ABS Mayhem G3 Eclipse?

    2. track record of MSI system: are they known to be durable relative to the industry average?

    3. Possibility of watching a movie or listening to the music without booting up the operating system?

I really appreciate for any comments

The screen quality on the 1029 I would say its better than HP's, but not equal to sonys. I would say its very very good.

You can't play videos or music without getting in to windows.

thats very true. I have tested both of them. I can say latest MSI screens are better than HP Pavillions-Satellite Series-Acer series. But not Sonys.

Sony Xbrite 2ns gen. is superb.I havent seen a screen equal to Sony's, really great.
