I'm a soon-to-be college student deciding between the Sager np9150 and MSI GT60-0ne. I prefer the appearance, display, and easier maintenance of the Sager, but it's difficult to swallow that I'll have to give up excellent audio and an anti-ghosting keyboard for those benefits. (Granted, a good external sound card will make more of a difference than Dynaudio speakers, but I want to buy as few peripherals as possible.) Are there any vendors that sell MSI without some of the bling?

I'd like to avoid undue interest in my laptop.

You could try GentechPC or XoticPC. They sell barebone MSI laptops.

I like you, am I college student and will start my freshman year in about 4 weeks and I had the same dilemma. I was torn between the Np9150 and GT60 and in the end I opted to go with MSI because I thought the MSI was more quality and the Sager was more "bang for your buck" because I could customize a Sager with slightly more bells and whistles than I could with the MSI. But in the end, I came to the conclusion that nobody should freakin pay $1500 or however much your Sager will cost and have bad laptop sound via headphones and speakers. Sure I could get a soundcard ( I already have one) but the fact is, sound on a computer is one of its most important functions, and if Sager cannot create a laptop with bass, then I'm going to go with MSI. Personally, I think the MSI looks much more sleek, and although same may have a high starting price, I like how customizable their laptops are. I ordered mine off of Xotic and I would highly recommend them, you can opt to buy a barebones laptop, or customize it with as few or as many upgraded parts as you see fit.
