Hey im lookin to get a new laptop, and had my eye on the asus N61 which i may still pull the trigger on, but people are saying it has a low quality screen, and the plastic peels off.

Im wondering how good are MSI products? i have never heard of them before, but im looking at getting the MSI GX640 which is suppose to come out end of march. Does this company come with a 2 year warrany like asus does?

MSI has an identical warranty, including the 1 year accidental. If you can stand 1 more inch of screen and you have the budget, you might want to take the MSI GX740 instead of the 640. The ATI card in the 640 has a good chip, but is bottlenecked by not having GDDR5 like it should. The 740's card is I believe the fastest single card on the market.

Actually, its more likely to be GDDR5 now brent, releasing the bottleneck, but again we are uncertain!

MSI are claiming it across the EU, and the review model was true GDDR5.

After creating this thread i was reading another similar one where people are talking about bad build quality. My last laptop just broke within 2 years, i use it everyday at college, and im going to need my new one last me 3 years.

there were some isues with some of the older G600 series with the screen bezel cracking. the newer g600's have had improvements made and the problem has dissapeared for what i can tell. the cracking was only with a few people's machines too. Our Friend Catacylsm has dropped his twice and it still works fine.

Apserlutely died inside, slotted the battery in, and it still boots,

Now i've vowed to leave it on my main desk :p.
