So the MSI power station or whatever its called may look pretty but doesn't seem to do much, problem is for me, it doesn't take control. I can click on battery performance or full performance but nothing actaully changes outside of the power station indicators. Screen dimness i still have to do manually. Is there a good piece of software I can get that actually grabs this stallion that is my NB by its balls and changes it power consumption?

You can also try SpeedSwitch XP.

How about the power manager in ATI control panel?

My MSI System Control Manager does dim the screen. You have to tinker with the settings a bit, but it works. If it doesn't, try downloading the newest version from MSI's web site. Good luck.

I've had a few troubles with my MSI SCM program. The newest version doesn't seem to change the settings as experienced by polish_jr. I tried the older version that came with my notebook and power control settings were working but it had a more serious bug. Please confirm as this is just my experience, but on battery power, the computer would hang/freeze a little after the battery would reach 50%. So now, i'm simply using xp power management and everything is fine at the moment. I'd prefer something with a little more options. Hopefully, MSI can release a bug free version.
