i think it has mxm 3.0b, so i can order 5870 from rjtech in march

Depends if MSI has used proprietary format (Most likely not), as well as if the 5870s from rjtech are ATI/ASUS/MSI branded, its not so easy,
And besides, why would you do that? If the 5858 will use true GDDR5, its definately not going to be far behind.
Also thermals from the review suggest that a 5870 may be a bit too much without internal cooling modification, but i can't speak for any new changes MSI have made since,
Its still, a matter of time,
But if you do go ahead, be sure to let us know how it runs!Be nice for other members to know if its upgradable.

the 5850 is definitely gddr3 as gx640 ads for sale, and much far behind performace from 5870 according to notebookcheck.net tested
-
Actually we don't know that for certain,
The review unit was Definately GDDR5,
And there is an EU press report confirming the GDDR5 card being in both 740 and 640 gx models.
Not sure how accurate this is, but the reviews model had GDDR5 without a doubt. -
we're not sure yet until release, xoticpc and ebay showed gddr3 and Acer Aspire 8942G is gddr3 as well
-
Agreed, but there was definately a Thai model 5850 GDDR5 review, the performance results confirm it (Which makes me think notebook checks completely useless at this pont), if you like i can repost the link?
MSI gx640 15.4" supports ati 5870 ? since it supported 5850
