ok guys . ever since i purchased and installed the new 980m msi card ( which i got from an official msi gt72 upgrade kit ) into my msi gt70 and upgraded it from 870m , i began having sound crackling problem when the card hit 80 celsius. after googling i found oit that crackling happens because the overheated card sits right over the sound card. so i tried fixing the overheating problem
after a year of repasting and cleaning the laptop and trying gazillion types of thermal pads like ic diamond and etc.. nothing changed . my cpu sits at 50 on idle and i can't even touch the turbo boost mode and i disabled it and my cpu now runs on 2.7 ghz all time by setting the cpu usage to 99% only because when it's on and my cpu runs at 3.4 ghz its temp jumps to 70 on idle!
    so here's my question .
i upgraded the firmware and bios right before installing the 980m which was an upgrade kit for the msi gt72 so naturally i didn't need to upgrade the vbios of the card nor installing any inf files . but i doubt that the increase in the heat that much is caused by the upgrade i made of the ec firmware and bios.
so i need someone to give me a stable ec and bios that can run my 980m and adjust these insane temps . since the bios is the only thing i can think of remaining that might fix that problem for me. i can't even play 5 minutes without the sound crackling and then disappearing from the heat of the card. i am honestly clueless . i need bios or even vbios for the card that can adjust stuff for me.
    i'm a noob . i know it . but please help me. i'm desperate .
here's my bios ver and my gpu vbios version in the screenshots

edit : my laptop's original code was msi gt70 2pc . and o downloaded it's latest bios and flashed it from msi official website which is : e1763ims.51b
    but hw info now reads it msi gt70 2QE!! should I instead flash the 2QE latest bios which is ;
    E1763IMS.51D

would it be more suitable to my laptop ?? or would it brick it ?

    Could it be Coil Whine?

    in a laptop ? no
besides the sound begins normal in gaming . then the sound of the game begins to crackle and stutter then it totally disappears .
it's overheating i know it . i need to fix the sound card or fix the overheating so the audio chip wouldn't crackle and disconnect the sound

What if you put the original VGA card back? Can you verify if you still get the same symptom on the previous VGA card?

What temperature were you getting? The coil whine is caused by motherboard so it needs to be replaced.

as soon as i get above 80 C , the sound begins to crackle from my speakers and then fades then totally disappear
it's not coil whining btw, the sound works perfectly as long as the temps below 70.
i doubt replacing the MB would help since as soon as the card continues overheating, the next realtek chip will get burnt
btw, my cpu hits 60 C on idle . and turbo boost off . and hits 70 on load . if i turn on turbo boost , the cpu hits 70 easily on idle and 85 on load!
i tried disassembling the laptop and cleaning it and repasting it. no use. don't know what to do

What about BIOS, EC firmware, and audio driver? Are these updated?
Can you also show device manager where your audio controller is?

To sum up, you have the same issues with either old or new VGA card, right?
The noise comes from the motherboard so it's not the VGA card that caused the issue but the board itself.

Did you ever get an answer to this? I have the same problem with stock 870m on GT70 2PC.

It is a common Problem. Google it and you find lots of complaints about this issue.

I had the same issue with my 880m that the system came with.

On the German msi forums several ppl sent their GT70 back to msi for repair, got their mainboards changed or other repairs - the failure was never fixed.

What you can do: Get yourself a external Soundcard, Problem gone. Cheaper, faster then all that msi will do for you. And this "fix" works.

I have a GT70 about 3 years old. The sound problems related to heat began about a year ago. I was running Windows 7 back then. I went to Windows 10 a few months ago. Updates caused some sound REALTEK driver issues that were solved by fiddling with re-installs. The heat issues remain and are definitely hardware. My first fix was using a set of powered speakers plugged into the headphone jack. After a while I noticed a constant low level of static noise. If I use my Bluetooth headset the sound quality is perfect. Next I bought a BTI-010 Bluetooth receiver/transmitter, about the size of a USB flash drive. Set to Receive mode it drives my powered speakers. It paired to the GT70 Windows 10 Bluetooth. I right-clicked on the Sound (speaker) icon in the Task Bar Notification, selected Playback Devices, selected the BTI-010 Speaker and clicked Default. I had some initial problems with the BTI-010 speaker connecting but after a couple reboots and pairings it was like Windows 10 "learned" how to connect. It works just great now and heating during gaming has no effect and no static.
