Not sure where to post this on NBR...as it applies to all models of MSI as well as other brands manufacturing.

I think not many people get to see the inner workings of what it takes to qualify, manufacture, test, and QC hardware like this.

Nice find! Although I felt bad for those poor laptops. Maybe this is where their refurbs come from? ;)

Nah, I would imagine the customer's do a good enough job on their own working over the laptops that become refurb's ;)

Some of the testing requires keeping the failed / damaged / tested components for a period of time, so they can be referenced later in case of future failures or for compliance audits.

It's amazing just how resilient heavy laptops can be these days. You can still cause a lot of cosmetic damage with the mass behind the motion, but the integrity holds up much better.

I wish more manufacturers of laptops would put out video's like this - and much longer with more technical info - it would really help connect people with what is behind the making of their hardware.
Over the years I was fortunately able to introduce non-hardware people to the manufacturing and integration of the hardware that went into their projects.

Starting with tours of manufacturing, followed by hands on unboxing, racking, wiring, and participation in the logistics behind all the details required to put their project hardware into service.

It really helps them get a good perspective on what is / was required to support their efforts on a day to day basis.

Many said it was a life-changing experience :)

Damn, watching this video made me cringe a bit. Seeing how "my" laptop being manhandled and mistreated like that for the test. At least this lets me rest easy knowing how durable a gt73 is meant to be

Best horror movie I've ever seen. Also makes me stoked for my GT73 on Friday.

I look at this and wonder... before there was this much automation/robots, did they manually test this? Was someone paid to just manually insert and remove a USB drive over and over, 40 hours a week? o_O

But seriously, it's a pretty good video showing how much work goes in to the final product. Thanks for finding and sharing it.

Hope to see every manufacturer to post their manufacturing process as well as quality control soon.
