I'm at odds between the U210 and the Acer 1400. I looks like the only thing the Acer has going for is the capability of 4GB DDR2.

    Thoughts Phil?

U210 is the AMD version. The Acer has better battery life and performance.

Odds might be different when MSI releases a U200 with SU3500, but sofar they haven't.

This is very tempting considering I just returned my HP DV2 ($750CAN) with almost the same specs (but with the dedicated ati 3140 graphics). Even the cheaper version of the DV2 sells for around $550CAN; it has the same specs as this laptop but has vista basic instead of premium. They are selling this for $400 online at Futureshop.ca which is an amazing price considering its got the latest AMD Neo CPU and a decent ATI integrated GPU. Screen resolution is also much better than what I get with the HP. Only 1GB of RAM though.

Ive got the Toshiba Mini NB200 atm which I bought for $470CAN; cant decide if I should return it for this or not. Parents have always been skeptic about shopping online...

Also have a look at Acer 1410, it offers a lot of value for money.

The ACER 1410 is a great deal but it has a 4500HD for a GPU that's not so good.
Had nothing but trouble with a old laptop that had one
Need a dedicated GPU in netbooks/laptops!

you think they're gonna make a model with the dual core neo and a 3xxx GPU?

EDIT- the HP DV2 might be more expensive, but it does come with an external DVD drive, this appearently does not

EDIT2- oh,and the x1250 is just as bad as the 4500 for games...

The HP DV2 also costs $650 last i check which places it at $220 more than the wind u210. Your also looking at a size increase 7.4lx11.69Wx1.2H and 3.2lbs vs 9.45x11.5x .093 and weighs 3.95lbs

The gateway LT with the neo and 1270 seems to play half life 2 at native res and high settings. The MS wind will have a 400mhz clock speed advantage over the gateway and also dual channel ram. So it should offer better performance on those titles. Of course the extra 2 gigs of ram and the hd3410 would do much better in games.

    Hello,this is my first post..
I am from Greece and the last days appeared in the market here the MSI U200.The version that is available right now comes with
    CPU:Intel Celeron M ULV 723 (1.2 GHz) with 1MB L2 cache
    RAM:2GB
    HD:250GB
    Graphic card:Intel GMA 4500 MHD
    Battery:6 cells.
    OS:Vista
What is your opinion from the specs?I am in need for a 11-12' laptop-netbook..I really liked the HP DV2,but the battery life is rather dissapointing as i read here. The acer 751h is available, but the performance is at least questionable as i have seen it..The acer 1810T is probably a good option, but is not available(as everywhere in europe apart from germany i think)and without any info about when it will be avalaible..
The MSI looks interesting, but i am worried whether the CPU can go well with VISTA.With 6 cells battery and the ULV CPU,i guess that the battery life will be decent..
    Any opinions?

Thank you for the answer Phil.
Do you have any info about the date that you mentioned aboute the 1810T?Unfortunately due to work,i need the pc immediately, maybe i can wait until end of September but no more.
I saw that you have used the Acer 751..If you had to choose between the Acer and the MSI,which you would pick? From the performance side.

22nd of october is the release date of Windows 7. I expect many new products to come out that date, like Acer 1810tz and HP DM1.

    Performance:
    1. Acer 1810tz (su4100)
    2. Acer 1810t (su3500)
    3. MSI U210 (celeron 723)
    4. Acer 751 (atom Z520)
