Im looking at MSI after having a acer and their horrible customer service, im waiting on a replacment which I will just sell when I finally get it.

How is the warrenty and customer service at MSI anyone have to deal with them?

Also im looking at the 15.4" gaming laptops...I dont know much about them can you please explain which I should get and why. I dont want to upgrade for a while and the GT627 seems like a good one, and ad the price it seems you cant beat them (after looking at Dell etc)

    Thanks

I'm not sure about the differences in warranty or customer service since I haven't dealt with them yet.

The above mentioned laptops are all very similar with a few differences
    620, 623, and 627 are pretty much the same except the GPU. 620--> 9600GT 623--> HD4670 625---> 9800GS

So if you are into gaming probably the 625 would be your choice. I'm looking at getting it myself...

For more information on all of them you can check out http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=prodpage2&maincat_no=135&cat2_no=271

    Hope that helps.

    1. Where are you in the world?

    2. Last Friday I RMA-ed my GT725. I'll let you know how it goes, if you're interested.

I just had my gx720 rma, sent on Monday received it back a week later.

The process was quick and easy, all I did was filled out a form.

Though they gave me a wrong HDD  , I was able to get them to send me a replacement in 2 days.

    I live in Australia BTW.

Go with the 627 if you like that, it looks really solid and the owners are really pleased :D good luck.

In this part of Asia, MSI has made a terrible name for itself in customer service. It's a Taiwanese company, yet Taiwanese IT workers steer clear of the name.
It's sad because overall I've been pleased with my notebook. But their service is awful. I learned the hard way: I had questions about the Windows 7 upgrade that came with my notebook and the customer service was automated responses in Mandarin that basically said my answer could be found if I looked in the FAQs. Eventually, I got three different reasons why they wouldn't honor the upgrade- there was an earlier MSI deadline that i had missed, I didn't apply for a form in time, and then they said that some regions don't apply. By the time they denied me the Windows 7 upgrade, it was three days past their deadline (even though the website said I still had a month) and they had decided my notebook wasn't eligible even though it was listed as eligible on their Global website. Terrible, terrible service.

I think that is pretty much a general theme.

They make some great laptops, especially their gaming range, but just hope nothing goes wrong of you're in trouble...

So far I can't complain when it comes to customer services/RMA in the UK. RMA is fast and takes 5 working days from the UK to the Netherlands and back.
The repair(s) can also be tracked online ...

But why you going for such notebooks ? why not a GT640 or the latest ?

Wait a bit, MSI will be bumping up all the components soon to be in line with new gen machines. :)
