    MSI Warranty needs registering or can RMA without registration?

    I'm trying to RMA a GT780DXR, however the agent on the phone kept asking me to register it first and provide proof of purchase.


    Is registration really necessary? I thought the MSI warranty goes by serial number and no registration was needed. ( I'm aware if you register it, you get additional warranty, however this one is still within the standard warranty ).

    you need to register and provide proof of purchase for any warranty coverage

    I have RMA'd components with MSI before, and no proof of purchase was necessary.

    Talked to a different agent and RMA'ed successfully without any proof of purchase.


    Looks like some MSI agents are bit confused..
