I bought an MSI X320 X-Slim and I'm considering another MSI purchase, but I've found conflicting reports on people's experience with MSI when it comes to warranty and repairs. I've also seen different warranties mentioned, 1 yr, 3 yr., etc. on the site, warranty sign-up seems tedious and they want you to mail original purchase invoice and such to activate the warranty, bit of a hassle. And later for the Win 7 upgrade they again insist on the original pruchase invoice...how many originals do they think exist?

Anyway, anybody deal with MSI as far as actually providing warranty service and have any feedback on the experience? Most of what I've found has been negative, but that's often the case on the net, so hard to be sure.

So, any positive experiences out there?

Well, though weird that there have been no responses, I've accepted the risk and ordered the MSI X340 on special for $500 plus free external DVD drive. Fingers crossed. ;)

Well seeing as anyone hasn't got any good OR bad experiences is probably a good thing...

    LOL! Maybe so... ;)

But I do find all their strict requirements just to register your laptop a bit daunting. With HP and others, you just go online and enter the info and that's that. No requirement to mail in original paperwork (which you may need for insurance or other legal reasons), no arbitrary deadlines (e.g. info required for request for Win 7 upgrade must be received within 14 days) and so on. A 3 year warranty is a very appealing thing, but it makes it look like they are trying to weasel out after the purchase. Not even sure if it's legal. So they may want to loosen up. The word will get around.

But the X-Slim units are attractive at current prices.

(P.S. How do you like the display on your 725?)
