I believe it forces max GPU clocks and max fan speeds.

It raises the gpu clocks but not that much at all, you can easily use higher clocks than that with msi afterburner.

Ok... I was afraid that MSI was downclocking their TDE laptops to meet their claim of 30-45% performance increase with TDE.

Til this day i dont understand this turbo button. I actually thought that you can overclock the GPU by just clicking the turbo button but in reality it is just a shortcut key to any program/application you choose and it lights up when the GPU is active. What a scam/letdown...

on the gt683dx/dxr series it increases the clock slightly but it doesn't overclock because the gpu is already downclocked by default and this function raises it to its factory clocks.

It depends on the model. On my old GX660R and my current 16F3, turbo button overclocks the CPU slightly. On the GE60 it's just an indicator/shortcut button.

On the 16F3 a CPU OC? Really? Could you post a screenshot?

Its a scam :l. TBH it was one of the reasons why i chose the laptop "thinking that i can overlock the gpu with a click of the button" and not having to use the msi afterburner... What a let down. Oh well...

If you write to the Pstates the specific values yourself (at least with the GT series) you can make it that way yourself.

    So instead of:

    P0
    P8
    P15

    You have

    P0
    P1
    P8
    P15

Where a higher number denotes a deeper idle state. The button switches you between P1 and P0 and means you could program P1 at stock and P0 as overclocked. What is nice is that these states can have their own voltage.

Sorry, that was incorrect. I assumed since the symbol was the same as the GX660R's turbo mode that it did the same thing. I just ran Intel Burn Test with and without turbo enabled and CPUID gave me the same clocks.

What I did with my GE60 was bind MSI Afterburner to the turbo key. So I hit the turbo key, and boom, I have turbo.

I used svet's vbios tuner to modify my vbios, then after flashing when I pressed the turbo button It OCed to 0.9v 820core and 850mem.

When overclocking a mobile gpu you usually have to increase the voltage to be able to reach higher clocks without artifacts, this is not achievable with msi afterburner. The only way to do this is to modify and flash the vbios.
