MSI Titan GT83-6RE 1070 sli keeps freezing & restarting during gameplay..

I have a gt83 titan dual 1070 sli cards 6820hk cpu, so when im gaming i just get endless errors with the nvidia drivrs followed by a crash most of the time weather i am in single sli mode or both cards on sometimes it will stay on longer at times or it will just crash right away. I have installed windows 10 fresh too with minimal drivers and issue still happens.

I have my cards unlocked to a 175w tdp flashed with hardware flasher, all thermal pads are in contact with the vrms and memory so i dont think temp is an issue, ive even tried underclocking -100mhz on both core and memory no success.. ill include a screenshot of the error in event viewer.

I am on latest bios E1815IMA.10A

It seems its the same errors starting with
nvlddmkm 14
Followed by DistributedCom error
Then sometimes Processor limited speed by system firmware.

over and over... Each time a crash occures.

I have cpu at 1.3v with 4ghz always, so its not being pushed to much at all.
GPUs even at stock will crash. only +115% power limit.

Any help would be greatly appricated. I love this machine, just not sure why gpus are acting up so much.

 

So obviously first we need to check the temperatures.
Then we need to know what power supply you have.
Also game titles are also very useful to know.

 

Wel i did mention in OP i dont think temp is an issue, as i made sure all thermal pads are in tact and i have thermal grizzly liquid metal applied, and the crash is happening like 2 seconds into a game at times, its happening tonight even with this game https://store.steampowered.com/app/755790/Ring_of_Elysium/ its a dx9 game and not even using both gpus, gpu 0 is clocked at like 1400 upon entering a game and bam it happens...

Power supply i have is 230w x2 so 460 total for this laptop.

 

Sounds like some dying VRM's.


What you can do is try to see if you can get through firestrike at all. You said that it does take a while to crash somtimes and other times it does it faster. If you literally cannot get through firestrike at all, it's likely your VRM's gonme bad.

 

What if you run everything stock? BIOS, EC, and VBIOS? Would the same error occur?

This is a driver issue, and for the most part its different for each person.
However, the DistributedCom 10016 error points to the registry.

Trial and error here, Wash, Rinse, Repeat as Necessary.

It's likely a faulty hardware that triggered software crash.

 

Tried underclocking gpus? My friend has issue with his 1080ti where specific games crash drivers. He underclocked it by 100 MHz and problem is gone now.

 

I have the same machine you have. But everything is stock. And I have no issues at all. I play a lot of games and never had a crash... Maybe it is a hardware thing that is causing a software error like Kevin said...
