I am running the Telegram messenger on my GT80 SLI machine. It crashes and freezes constantly on Windows 10.
At first, I thought it was a software issue. contacted the software people and they do not have any other case of Telegram freezing on Win 10, which makes me think it's something on that machine.
What could it be? some anti-virus?

Unless you are seeing crashes from a bunch of programs, I'd blame Windows 10 and that one application.
It looks like Telegram has a history of crashing on Windows 10, there are several spates of crashing reports after Windows 10 major updates, before updated versions are released.
If you have crashes I'd report it to the developer, and get it on their radar for the next bug-fix release.

Was going to say the similar things but you did explain it well. Scott is the best, thanks!

I talked to the developers, they are aware of the issue but have not been able to solve it yet.
They think it is something specific to my machine.hmscott likes this. -

Have you tried disabling the second video card and seeing if the crashes stop?

"So the point is, if you’re looking to communicate securely, just use Signal, iMessage, or WhatsApp. Telegram has too many potential flaws and hiccups that may compromise its integrity as a secure messaging application."
If you said that you think it is something specific to the machine, like you did to us earlier, they would echo that back to you, it's part of problem handling, so be sure not to pre-program developers or support people with solutions, wait for them to offer something, if they got nothing then they got nothing, let them do their job, maybe they just haven't had time to look at it yet.
The Realtek sound chip in the GT80 is in most of the gaming laptops shipping at the same time, so it's unlikely *only* a GT80 issue with it's sound system.
The GT80S introduced Sabre sound as well as Realtek and I can believe that might cause issues, but there are now lots of systems with Sabre too.
The GT80 will boot on the iGPU and disable the dGPU's, that might be worth a try, to cut out dGPU Nvidia sound compatibility issues.Last edited: Nov 22, 2017 -
I really cannot believe it's something related to the video card. It just freezes. More like a memory problem or a software issue. There are no other problems with the machine.
