There are now lots of reviews about the dell m1210, and still none about the msi S271, can someone provide a review?

I know, both are dual core, and msi is amd 64bit vs dell intel 32bit, but i want to know about the package of msi. My major things are:

    graphics card (i do 3d)
ultra portable (i demo 3d and work on the go a lot)
    light weight (haha)
    dvd burner (buid in)
as close to $1000 as possible
glow/light up keyboard (i can only find that on the IBM laptops)
everything else is just standard (lan, wifi) or extra perks (ie; video, evdo, etc.)

Any other laptops you can think of would be great, but I think I narrowed it down to the two in the subject.

    Thanks,
    Lec

ps. I hate those batteries that stick out, but i don't mind having and extra battery (even the one that sticks out) in the bag, for when I actually need it (long plan ride, train ride, etc)

Doesn't the MSI have integrated graphics? If so,I think the Dell will perform better. Just my 2 cents/

hmmm, good point, but still interested in a full review. I think the amd tx2 chip is low power and that makes it worth while. Does anyone have the msi s271 system? Any thoughts?

Oh and how hot does it get, right now my old p3 is burning my legs :p

I'd go with teh dell only because of value for money(if you can use those coupons). And teh integrated webcam. I also have a thing against MSI's placement of Ctrl and Fn keys. But that's just me. You probably will differ. Why don't you post in the "What should I get" forum and fill out the FAQ. Expect the unexpected, you might see notebooks that you haven't seen/overlooked :p

I took the s270 over the m710, were i buyin a NB today, it'd be the dell for sure, tiny and full on gpu? Sign me up! I love MSI and am happy with my s270, its miles ahead of the old m710, but this new dell seems to have it all... well except that its a dell.

I have a friend who has the s271 - I must admit, pretty nice. The aesthetics are beautiful and MSI is a solid product. I love it... The orange lid is catchy... Performance seems to be good and the he seems to be very happy with the Turion x2. Heat is not a problem and battery life has been solid. However, comparing it to the M1210 seems to be unfair... I am blown away by the specs of the 1210, definitely in a league of it's own. No comparison here, in my opinion... If the price can be justified - get the dell. The GPU, webcam, and it can come with media center too... If you think you'll need all of that stuff. Also, I'm not sure on this one, maybe someone can chime in, but isn't ASUS supplying the Dells these days anyways? If so, another great benefit. Just my thoughts.
