No TB3, single heatpipe on the CPU.

    :/

It takes little effor to cool a “U” chip. You have seen the cooler? I saw a generic rendering of it. Separate pipe and fan for the GPU and CPU at least.
    Did you see the same?

Serious question. What do people use TB3 for anyway? Sure as heck isn’t eGPU. Nothing is more niche than that.

TB3 eGPU support is slowly gaining more support and the price of the docks is coming down.

Its more a matter of future proofing.

I also only saw the rendering, but given that MSI has shown other laptop cooling system with those style of renders and they always match the real world result, I would take it as the final solution, I wouldn't be surprised that it runs at 80ºC or over under load, and small heatsinks only result in a louder laptop even with light loads.

High speed data transfer, and you can daisy chain 4K monitors over a TB3 connection.

I agree, not very applicable at the moment. However I do believe 3 party accessories will start to pop up more and more.

Well they certainly have to. TB3 support is happening. However, by the time it's standard, today's tech will be a several generations old. Still completely usable for many, no doubt. Although some would disagree with that statement too.

Regardless, I can't wait to get my hands on this PS42! It looks like the perfect daily driver for me :)

All in all in the end, the transfer speeds don't lie!

Looks awesome. Not too miffed about the lack of TB3 (although it would be nice) - this isn't a powerhouse laptop it's a super thin and light device and frankly USB 3 is used much more.

Hopefully they are using the 25W TDP MX150...

Whether or not they do is irrelevant compared to the ability of the laptop to cool the GPU! I want to know if it throttles or not.

Pascal has been pretty good. Two heatpipes, GT 1030-equivalent power - if not 25W I would be miffed. I know I am with my 80W 1070 MQ (versus 90W). There's a big performance difference.

I agree. I think it's also good the heatpipes are short and simple. Some of the most complicated systems make me wonder if the heatpipes are really doing anything at all.
